Purpose

What is our purpose? The Bible tells us the answer in Isaiah 43. We are created for God's glory. It pleased Him to create us; we are a reflection of Him. Are we, though, a reflection of Christ? I see and hear a lot about the two sides of Believers. We had this very discussion recently at a gathering. How others see us, talking the talk, and another side that simply wants its way, regardless of who it hurts, so it just gets loud. We are created for God's glory only. Our purpose is to let others see Jesus in us. Do you remember the song "Let Others See Jesus in You?"

1 While passing through this world of sin,
And others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within,
Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

2 Your life's a book before their eyes,
They're reading it through and through;
Say, does it point them to the skies,
Do others see Jesus in you?

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

3 What joy 'twill be at set of sun,
In mansions beyond the blue,
To find some souls that you have won;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

4 Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave, and true,
And lead the lost to life and light;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

Why is this so hard to do? To be one with Christ in word and deed? How did we get to this place in time where we think it is okay to blast others on social media, put down others when they don't meet our shopping or dining standards, email or text a break-up, or share negative things that hurt others?

Surely we were all told that if we don't have something nice to say, then it means we shouldn't say it. No one has time to get knocked down by us. We are to be encouragers, not crabs in a bucket pulling that one crab finding success back down into the bucket!

I have learned that when people "harp" on their problems, or are hurting, they don't want a fix or your help. They want attention. Or, when someone wants their way and believes that blasting others who think differently is the answer, they want attention. Our purpose should be to give them the attention of prayer, not revenge.

I was not designed for the conflict that is created in competition. We are made in the Trinity for unity.

It's not about you or me; it is about others. I shared with a friend that I am called to help needy people. There are times I want it to be about me, but it rarely is. God has a reason for this. I keep my eyes open. I am blessed to walk in the dark and see the Light of humble service and eternal hope.

All this said, I am a sinner saved by grace. The refiner of gold is weaving my life's tapestry for his purpose. Sometimes, I laugh as I walk and talk with God because I must be his comic relief. And yes, he loves me.

He loves you, too. Let's do better together.

Did this make any sense? LOL Sometimes my thoughts are fragmented, but they are my thoughts!
