Caught My Eye

This morning, as I went through the garage to open the door and enjoy the rain falling, something caught my eye. We have a collection of family things that have landed at our casa through the years. Each item brings forth a sentimental memory of our loved ones for me.

This morning, I focused in on the corner of the garage where the freezer sits.

First is my grandfather's electrical business sign, phone 2203. Then, the broom was Hugh Etter Electric's shop broom. My grandfather holds such a special place in my mind and heart. I have said it before and I'll repeat it here: I am most like him in the way I tackle tasks...stay with it, be creative and make it work!

The shoe sizers are not family, but Gabriel's was family to me through my shoe sales, gift wrap and inventory team days. These are the very sizers I used on each customer. Back in the day, we sized the customers feet (both because they are different) to determine the correct size and arch placement for proper fit.

The mat scale on top of the freezer is from a local meat market and is a Dayton scale...my maiden name.

Oh, and the egg carton is a Young Farm carton that my friend Mary Dell Young brought eggs to me in. One day, I'll get it back to her.

My eyes often see random things, which creates random thoughts. LOL. Have a great Labor Day. Make it a relaxing one.
