Invitation

We extend an invitation to worship Christ at First Baptist Church every Sunday at 10:15, located at 8th & Baltimore Streets in Plainview, Texas. This Sunday, April 30, we will be blessed with a special piece of music featuring our handbell choir honoring long-time director Steven Long.

Long

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

1 Come, thou Fount of every blessing;
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above;
praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of God’s unchanging love!

2 Here I raise my Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I’m come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

3 O to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart; O take and seal it;
seal it for thy courts above.

Steve

What a beautiful day of worship as we come into the House of the Lord. Celebrate our Risen Savior with us!!! Or join us online; website, YouTube, Facebook ... First Baptist Church Plainview Texas.

Memory

As a teen, my cousin Janis Alexander and I would ride in the back of our grandparent's camper shell and sing, at the top of our lungs I might add, three songs that I distinctly remember...

(I do not own the rights to the music or lyrics, but they are great, thank you!)

Caricature Sketch

A little bit of a realistic caricature sketch piece but also a fun family history. This photo is a five-generation lineage of Hopkins women. Even though only two carried the Hopkins name, we are all a part of the ancestral Hopkins line. Starting with our daughter, me, my mother, her mother, Lucy May Hopkins, and her mother, Zoe Hopkins.

A unique art piece.

Special Day

Once upon a time, there were these girls who were brought together through the sport of twirling. They were coached by Jeanie Pennell of Plainview, Texas. They started young, 3-5 years old, and finished up at the junior high, high school, or university level. They were labeled Jeanie's Genies and have all grown up and are loving life.

Today, Jeanie Pennell and I traveled to Amarillo for the baby shower for the last mom of the group. We had such a lovely time celebrating Pepper. They are expecting in June, their first!

I'm guessing a boy! They don't know but are excited either way!!! #teambabysnyder What joy is being gifted to them. I can't wait!!!

Dragonflies

When we had my mother's graveside service back in 2013, a large swarm of blue dragonflies joined us; a God wink. Since then, I have enjoyed bright blue dragonflies when I see them.

On a recent trip, my school friend, Belinda Smith, and I stopped in an antique shop, and I found a magnet blue dragonfly. I loved it so I bought one. Then, I decided I wanted a small "swarm" of them, and Belinda graciously went to see if they had more, bought, and shipped me ten!
