We need to make a daily choice to smile more than we cry. Even in the darkness smiling can be as beneficial, if not more so, than crying. Smiling lifts, and sadness dips. It is okay to cry, and we all handle sadness, loss, and all the heavy avoirdupois differently. Smiling is simply more beneficial because of our Hope as followers of Christ.

• Smiling doesn’t always mean you’re happy. Sometimes it simply means that you’re a strong person.
• The most beautiful smile is the one that struggles through tears.
• Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.
• Psalm 126:2-3 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.
