Thank you!

Thank you, Reba Bailey, for your many years of dedication to the Plainview Chamber of Commerce. You are my ride-or-die stand-in-the-corner person for large networking gatherings. I will miss you tremendously. I'm super excited about your retirement. Well deserved!!!

National Carnation Day

It is National Carnation Day. I can't think about this day without reflecting on my precious friend, Jo Lively. To know her was to love her. The hat lady with the smile. The one who loved children, young and old. What an ambassador for the cause of Christ.

We were carnation blessed. I presented her with this art print, Jo's Carnation, for her birthday one year. After Jo's passing, Doug and I visited a bunch and continued to be a sweet-sweet friend and he asked if he could keep the carnation. Of course! And I pray that the carnation print has brought others joy since Doug's passing. Two huge blessings that God placed into my faith walk.

First Dance

Our youngest, the girl, has always been a dancer. Before she was a National/World award-winning twirler, she danced and did gymnastics.

Her first dance experience began at Pat Owns School of Dance, located at 10th and Canyon Street. She is in the center with her hand up. I wish I could name all of the girls. I recognize Cherise Johnson to her left and Sarah Black second from right. I think to the far right might be Crystal Daniel. Do you recognize any of these lovely dancers?

The Helper

I'm listening to a study about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is my Helper.

I often say that the Holy Spirit is the forgotten link of the Triune.

In the Old Testament, the story is from and about God with the hope of Jesus promised; who is and was and is to come. In the New Testament, we learn about Jesus, his power, and His love for us as Children of God.

In John 14:16-17 Jesus tells us, And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. So Jesus tells us that the third part of the Trinity is promised and will be with us forever.

God has supplied our Helper. One in essence but distinct in personhood; all divine advocates in One.

I'm sure theologians think about walking in God's Old Testament times. Some say they wish they could sit and listen to Jesus talk. I don't think we think much about Christ's manifestation with us! Jesus had to go away for this gift to happen. This great love is the presence of God found in every part of my following Jesus experience.

It is interesting to think about Jesus and his ministry. It all happened right there where he was. I believe this is why so many travel to the Holy Land to sense the magnitude with gratitude. Jesus delivered salvation and birthed the Church right where he was. Many came.

Then, the Helper came, and the Jesus gift of salvation is available to the ends of the earth. When we think about the life of Jesus, we remember stories of those who dined with Jesus. Who did he have dinner with? The beautiful result of the Holy Spirit is that it allows us all equal access to everything God; the Triune is networked!

The Holy Spirit is external and internal when we give him the freedom to guide our lives. The power of prayer is the breath of the Holy Spirit.

I stand in awe of God's great plan. When we pattern our life after the life of Jesus, then we will understand that our ministry is to happen right where we are and that the Holy Spirit is with us always.

Before My Time

Here is a sweet photo of Marie Anderson and my brother John Dayton next to Clarice (Anners) and DJ Anderson's car. The Andersons lived across the street from my grandparents on Nassau Street. The Sherrods lived on the corner next to them, the house in the photo.

How about those jeans, suspenders, shirt, and boots? I bet he was a handful!!!

I remember Marie teaching me to swim at the original Westridge pool. I remember when she went off to college, then she was married with three kids who she introduced to acting, the Tom kids; Heather, Nicholle, and David. A sweet family and great memories.

Chosen Position

These words came to me this morning.

The church is built on the Cornerstone of Jesus Christ with living stones purified to build up the spiritual house adding to the Kingdom of Holy, sought after with great love to serve as the witnesses to all Creation in esteem towards the Name of Light and His excellence. We are chosen.

Isaiah 62:12, Titus 2:14, 1 Peter 2:5, Acts 26:18, Exodus 19:6, Dueternomy 7:6, 1 Samuel 12:22
