Fun Little Find

I found this fun little find; a locker cabinet. Got it home, cleaned it really well, and organized the items from 3 other storage pieces into it. The locker to the right is my father's and the next one to the right is Clinton's grandfathers. Right now they are three different shades of beige. Maybe one day I will paint them to match ... or, maybe not.

The Best Gifts

Spiritual gifts:  Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians, and 1 Peter

I have been praising God for so much. I am blessed with the great treasure of witnessing God at work again and again. I believe I can do anything that God wants me to do, and he has proven that he will take a "nobody" with a willing heart and use them in a way that allows him praise.

In my volunteerism, I realize the importance of the task at hand and can accomplish what I set out to do, but whatever I do must create a spiritual gain. In my day-to-day, the ministry of my life is found in the people that God lets me rub shoulders with. He prepares the way. I love seeing God at work. I enjoy my place there.

When I think about spiritual gifts, I know we will have the gift we need for each moment as God reveals the Master Plan. Many are very blessed with a particular gift or gift set; it is evident; it shows as a bright light. I love that.

Spiritual gifts are the best gifts. This may not be an inclusive list, but it gets me thinking. God blesses his children with many abilities and uses the willing heart in many ways.

Cried a Little Bit

This morning I was blessed by our sweet friend, Pat Thompson's celebration of life. I know she was in heaven telling all those who met her there (including my dad & mom, Sears friends), "That's my daughter, Stephanie, she has loved me well, and look at how she brought everyone together to celebrate Jesus today." Stephanie, like her momma, only knows one way to do things, with excellence. Hope English shared her Pat Thompson memories, and I think the same thing about her eloquence with words, so blessed.

The stories shared, the music, the video, all fitting for the Garms-Thompson "Queen." The time started with Pat singing with little boy Landon, Stephanie's son, in church. What a sweet picture of sharing God's love it was. I will admit, I cried a little bit or a lot as I watched the love. Our time together to honor this life well lived was joy-filled with laughter and love.

What a perfect start to a beautifully blessed day. To be still and watch God at work refreshed my soul.

This is a picture of my father, John Dayton, that Pat took at Sears. Sweet memories!

This is a picture of my first grade "graduation" in 1961 with my brother, John, who was seven years older so, he was thirteen. We were such blessed little kids. We had all we needed. We were on the poorer side of the wealth scale, but our parents provided.

When we decide to ask Jesus into our lives, it is more than a choice; it is a new identity where we determine to live in the power of His change within us. How connected are we to God throughout our day? First, we must remember we are not of this world. Our identity is found in fellowship with our Savior and an extension of this love as we care for the hearts of others.

The world does not revolve around me; I must remember this in every situation. The world revolves around the power God has to use me to show compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We are called to be righteous in our redemption. It is a daily heart reset with confession and forgiveness that offers hope to the broken and fallen.

I'm always a little confused about my ministry song because I wonder what it is that God wants me to do in His plan for my life. I feel it is never fully revealed to me. I see God's calling so evident in other's lives, and I love seeing God use his followers in such clear ways. In my question, I am reminded that it is not what we do, but why we do what we feel led to do. It is the purpose of our passion, the relational heartstring.

God, be seen and celebrated in my life.

Today in the mail, I was humbled to open this gift from my "massage & lunch" friend. We both get massages, one before the other, every three weeks so we can enjoy lunch afterward. We have known each other for as long as we can remember, and the older we get, the less we remember, but we still enjoy visiting. She had seen this painting on a trip and was telling me about it. She is an art collector, as well. Her home gallery is amazing! I am still in shock that she took the time to track it down. Many will remember this historic sign.

Another gift that I got several years ago from our daughter-in-law was a glass jar filled with bacon. The smell of cooking bacon makes me sick to my stomach but, I enjoy bacon very much. I cook bacon on the grill and still use the gift jar to store it in. In between, it is the best jar for fresh pineapple! A gift that keeps on giving!
