The Moon

Hello, moon. Your egg shape (not round) reminds me of breakfast. As the sun rises and you set, I enjoy crispy bacon, prunes, and deep as night coffee. You have once again brought me to a new day; God's design.

Your dusty surface hides the strength of what is hidden below, where nothing changes unless visitors come.

You shine bright to light the night, reminding me that it's all right to be humbled with the delight of my Creator's design.

Thank you, moon, for posing tonight!

This is a sweet photograph of my brother John (L) with our cousin Warren Leo (R). Their dads were brothers; John Dayton and Warren Dayton. These two had a special bond growing up & into adulthood. God blesses us with special people where we connect deeply. Often it is family, but for many, it is sweet friends. God is good!

A few Ushka thoughts from the book, Ushka-isms.

It saddens me the apostasy I see, not towards religion, but towards a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. For through it, we find the church.

Make certain what you stake your life with is big enough to handle it. God created, don't let Satan take away with the shallow worldview!

Wouldn't it be nice to toss away everything in the way of what we think is good and bad, right or wrong, on display?

Soon enough, there we'd be, standing alone by the sea to face a day with naught to do.

Just you and God on His throne, how it should have been all along.

Eyes blinded by selfish hate, trying to fill your soul with earthly weight.

Lonely days and lonely nights, no peace or rest in sight, Hell.

Let the Water cover you and wash away the wall you've built, and Peace will flood your soul and your shadows dark left at the Cross, never lost.

Grace and peace to you.

I'm sitting in the tower between my eyes .  Looking out onto the world completely dry.

Empty faces trying to survive . A shift of 24 hours, five to five.

Rushing past the hope of the day . Keeping Jesus Christ at bay.

In their pocket, on the phone . Just hit the Jesus ringtone.

He will answer the call . Not annoyed at all.

What we are missing is tragic . The love of Jesus is magic.

We can't comprehend this love he gives . So we ignore anything that lets us live.

Deep within the water split for us to cross . We choose to drown by the worldly boss.

When it is so simple to follow and see . Why can't we let our life be truly free?

Hanging on trying to control . With nets torn, pots cracked, we roll.

Until we can't, days lost . At what cost?

His on the cross . Ours we haphazardly toss.

It's not too late to stop; step off.

On the right foot, he said follow . Open up, don't be hollow.

I will use your brokenness . Clean up and shine your mess.

Together again . It's my plan.

The more water you drink, the more Water you want. Refresh with Living Water!

Be with me this day

Whatever comes my way

Help my eyes to see

The beauty you have prepared for me

Allow my mind to dream

Keep my heart clean

Give me others to encourage

Help my faith to flourish

Hold me close, Dear Lord. Amen

Some Things I've learned…

 Talk really is cheap.

What we see on TV and in the movies will be acted out by someone.

Don't give the police a reason to arrest you.

A smile travels further than a frown.

 Violence is never the answer.

Nothing good happens out on the streets after midnight.

A new car won't make you happy.

Run from a mad dog but never from the law.

All green beans are not equal (like the ones in Pepper Sauce).

If it is illegal, you aren't special.

Time does not heal, but age helps us forget.

A full stomach makes the world smarter.

There is a correct way to do everything according to someone.

Reading fills the brain with words that become a bridge over troubled waters.

If wringing a chicken's neck doesn't kill it; frying it does.

 Art is emotion revealed.

72 degrees can be either too cold or too hot.

Idle chatter leads to people batter.

It is better to do than be a monkey in the zoo.

The Holy Spirit moves slowly and swiftly. Be prepared to travel your journey.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:1-6

Notice that he provides green pastures, living pastures, cool pastures, reflection pastures. God provides the best for us.

The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
read more.
To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Psalm 92:12-15

To be righteous promises life. We must plant ourselves in the Lord.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:3

We read that we must plant ourselves in the Living Water who yields fruit in our season; we will not wither.

I have green eyes. Only about 2% of the world’s population has green eyes; green eyes are the rarest eye color. Kind of like having red hair is rare. And, I'm the blessed one; I got both!

Remember Kermit the Frog's "green" song?

It's not that easy bein' green
Having to spend each day
The color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer
Bein' red or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that
It's not that easy bein' green
It seems you blend in
With so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over
'Cause you're not standing out
Like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky
But green's the color of spring
And green can be cool and friendly like
And green can be big like an ocean
Or important like a mountain or tall like a tree
When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why
But, why wonder, why wonder?
I am green, and it'll do fine
It's beautiful, and I think it's what I wanna be
I always go back to a time where God allowed me to see a glimpse of heaven, and what I saw were shades of green in the trees that sparkled like precious stones in more shades of green than I could ever imagine. As I walked the path, there was green grass and the sound of water. It was warm, and the light radiated all around me. Life!

The Daughters of the American Revolution, a lineage-based membership service organization for women directly descended from a person involved in the United States' efforts towards independence, met today at the Plainview Country Club. Rebekah Crowe brought the discussion of our U.S. president's wives to the table. Rebekah always shares good information. What sweet ladies I am blessed to know!

Social Media

I'm not a huge fan of using social media for things other than what the ministry of following Christ's example allows. I enjoy seeing friend's and acquaintance's pictures of family and travel. I like to keep up with new and renewed things in our community. What I don't enjoy is posts that are hurtful to others, businesses, or the community. Facebook should not be the place to air our frustrations with family, friends, customer service, or quality control. Do unto others as we would want to be done to us. I'm not perfect, and I certainly do not want anyone posting hurtful things about me on social media. We need to respect others in this way, too. What we share shows our spirit. Even thinking negative, hurtful, or judgemental thoughts, God knows, but the sin grows when we decide to blast. Don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration that others can cause, but the way we fix things is through communication with the ones who can fix things, and I am pretty certain that social media is not in charge of our situation.

Thank you for letting me share. Remember, when I write, I am not targeting anyone, simply stating what I see on social media and how I feel about some things. I always start with myself, my heart, my actions.

Have a great rest of the week. Pray for rain. We need a good cleansing to be thankful for.
