I would like to write something profound today. I would like to share my thoughts about the world's current situation. I would like to tell you I sat in front of a device and watched what happened at our Nation's Capitol this week. I have nothing to share that most likely would upset others or start an argument between friends. I can go look it up, watch videos, read stories, but life is simply too short, and there are plenty of strong opinions on these matters and many who feel led to share. Some have asked me why I don't use my platform to speak to world issues. Honestly, I'm not called there. My passion is my faith. I am fighting the battle in a different army. You may not see me or hear me, but I'm on the ground fighting the war that rages.
God has spent my whole life protecting me and my balance to survive in a world that constantly wants to knock my socks off. I know my limits and through the Holy Spirit guiding me, I can function in my life with True Peace and no mental health medications. I need to wrap my mind around things.
I have experienced evil. I have stood face-to-face with it. I have seen God's Glory. I've seen him deliver answered prayer. I look for the good in everyone and have the ability to sense the hearts of others. I appreciate this gift. Everyone is worthy of God's love.
Even me. I am a sinner redeemed. Even you, humbly confess. God's love is real. It is the only overcoming love. It is how I can carry on and make it through each day that I'm given. You may see me volunteering, but God is connecting souls with purpose. I watch it unfold, and it is sweet. I play my part in His plan. His plan is to humble me to have eyes to see the needs. To share love and kindness.
I have said many times and even earlier in this blog, so get it straight, I AM A SINNER. I am a human with struggles. This is why I must keep my focus on Him. I must create for myself a life of God-focused living. I need this. I live for truth and peace-filled days and nights. I desire to walk without fear. I want to help make others' lives better, so their struggles are easier.
So, I'm rambling, but some are called for this, and others are called to that. For me, I am called to follow Jesus Christ. I am not a "Christian" of your mind's making. I am a follower of Jesus Christ because He alone will hold our hands on the last day, as he holds us every day when we seek Him.
John 16:33 is a scripture that carried me through a deep dark valley of a twenty-year wilderness, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” It assures me still.
Here are a few verses that I enjoy...
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13 (I am not of this world)
“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” Luke 6:31 (the Golden Rule my parents taught me)
“Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” Proverbs 12:25 (how heavy will make another's chain?)
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12 (we must intentionally "dress" every day with a clear purpose)
“From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey — sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” Proverbs 16:23-24 (words, we know about words and their power)
"A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself." Proverbs 11:17 (it's a blessing to be a blessing)
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant." 1 Corinthians 13:4 (and on the flip, jealousy hurts)
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 (oh, forgiving the thorn...)
"Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor." Proverbs 4:21 (be generous and there is no time for self-absorption)
There are so many wonderful uplifting, strength-giving verses to help us in every situation; every day, we need to look first before acting and reacting.
"I can do ALL things (overcome every situation) through Christ, who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 (every day, he carries me and allows me to survive and serve).
Don't just get by on the world's coat-tail, be individually woven by the Master! It's Eternal.
