Daddy & Me

Ramblin' Rose

I loved the song Ramblin' Rose by Nat King Cole (and Charley Pride) growing up. It is very fitting for those who choose to remain in my life and love me in my Asperger's wiring. I am a ramblin' redhead.

Ramblin’ Rose by Nat King Cole
Ramblin' rose, ramblin' rose
Why you ramble, no one knows
Wild and wind-blown, that's how you've grown
Who can cling to a ramblin' rose?
Ramble on, ramble on
When your ramblin' days are gone
Who will love you with a love true
When your ramblin' days are GONE
Ramblin' rose, ramblin' rose
Why I want you, heaven knows
Though I love you with a love true
Who can cling to a ramblin' rose?

A desire for a life of solitude is often misunderstood, feared even. Yet for some, true contentment is found in their own company. "Reflect upon your blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some." Charles Dickens

For some, finding the spaces between thoughts, the silence between sounds, and the stillness between movements is a daily recharging station. "If you want to fly on the sky, you need to leave the earth. If you want to move forward, you need to let go of the past that drags you down." Amit Ray

Focusing on what I put in rather than what I get out is my calling. It is the role I choose to play that brings me great joy."When we cheerfully give and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed." Maya Angelou

I am blessed to be able to laugh at myself, and believe me, I can do some remarkably funny things, but I don't know how to take you laughing at me. "Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am creative as long as there are no expectations. It hurts me to let others down. I'm uniquely gifted by a Father who reminds me that I am enough. "A creative life cannot be sustained by approval any more than it can be destroyed by criticism." Will Self

My faith, following Jesus Christ, is enough. "Be strong enough in your conscious mind to firmly control the subconscious mind" [up]

Ramblin' is how I write. Rambling is defined as lengthy and confused or inconsequential. I'll let you decide. As far as who can cling to a ramblin' rose...I'm not sure if it is you, but I know that God has richly blessed me through the love of many, many people. Some just could not hang in there, and that's okay. My love remains the same.

"The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others." Robert Baden Powell
