One of my very favorite reasons to read is to discover the lesson of the Holy Spirit hidden within the words. This evening as I read, this phrase popped off the page.
Water is a living thing. It moves; it flows; it cannot be contained. Water is stronger than anything in its way. It can wear down mountains, bring down houses, turn everything to slush and mush. Water always gets its way.
Colgan, Jenny. The Bookshop on the Shore (p. 349). William Morrow Paperbacks. Kindle Edition.
John 7:37-39 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
Jesus moves, flows, cannot be contained, is stronger than anything in His way, can wear down mountains, bring down houses, turn everything to slush & mush. Jesus ALWAYS gets his way once we choose him. Remember, he WINS!!!
It doesn't mean that there are no trials & everything is rosy. There are thorns in life. The beauty is found in reading the words that deliver true peace that flows through the living water.
