The miracle fruit. No, it is not beans that we learned about in the little jingle song growing up, "Beans, Beans, the magical (musical) fruit. The more you eat, the more you toot."
The fruit I am writing about is the prune. It is what I call the power fruit. I have shared this story with several people and maybe even blogged about it before, but I feel I need to share this information.
I had my first bone density test years ago. I struggled with severe bone loss. I was on the bottom quarter of the scale. I was given a prescription for a once a month pill that would maintain what I had left but not improve anything.
Fast forward to 2013, and my mom passes away, and I decide to make some life changes. I'm still working on the exercise part, but another story for another time.
I discovered the prune is a mighty powerful fruit. It is best known for helping with bowel issues, but its healing power goes beyond that. On that note, they can help regulate either issue you might have, loose or constipation.
So, back to bones and prunes. For two years, I ate two prunes a day. I had no idea that prunes helped recover the bone loss. I went for my bone density test, and the doctor came back in the exam room and asked me what I had done. I was confused, to say the least. I said that the only thing I had done was that I started eating two prunes each morning. That was it. The prunes had helped improve my bone loss. I was on the top of the scale!
I bought a book on healing foods. Sure enough, it shared that prunes worked for bone loss. I came home and told several friends, and they started eating prunes, and they had bone improvement, as well. This is not a quick fix. It is a lifestyle change. It takes creating a routine. It works best with exercise thrown in for good measure (although I'm not good at that part).
So many say that they can't eat prunes, but you can. I'm very food texturally challenged. I buy the individually wrapped ones, and they taste sweet. I have just two with my half a cup of black coffee each morning.
Here is an article that I find very informative about the good found in prunes as they relate to health. God has provided what we need to keep us healthy.
I am not against pharmaceuticals. There is a time and place for them. A healthy life is found through what we eat and how we exercise...oh, and water purified in a copper pitcher...the BEST!
Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. Colossians 1:10
