It's Where I Am

Someone has asked me why I post so little on my personal page and why it is mostly faith-based. So, here is why. I drop events and happenings over on Plainview Texas Local Events. I post Plainview Downtown Association items on that page. I Live [Lived] in Plainview gets everything of interest about Plainview and Plainview people near & far. I post items of encouragement on K.E Society. We Noticed is where we recognize those who impact our lives with kindness, goodness & positive vibes. The Hunt is Over is where I drop business cards of local small business owners & big ones, too. Hale County First Responders is an appreciation page to our first responders & we do appreciate them. If it is about giving, the Plainview Area Endowment page is where I land. For skatboarding, it is Skatepark Plainview. Cancer education & awareness is Go Big, Relay and Cotton Barons. PHS Class of 1973 is where we talk school. Adult Female Aspergers/Autism Network is where I drop things I've learned. On a prayer page, we gather daily to pray for specific needs. Oh, love some Theta, our neighborhood group, lunch bunch, 4 Forks, 5 Friends, and 4th Monday, too.

My personal page is about my faith and my family. They are my foundation and my love. Thank you, amigos, for stopping by!

Thought

I'm not an openly political person. I like my voice to speak faith more than politics. In my life, I watch God bring together, and I witness politics dividing. It is nearing an election year, and I sense it will be ugly. These seasons always are a real battleground and after the last election, oh my...

I love people. It doesn't matter to me how you voted or will vote, but to many, a lifestyle that includes a political alignment that differs is a friends changer. I love these people, too.

I'm going to step out on a limb here, and I'm pretty sure that I will regret it. I need to say this, feel led, as it has been brought to my attention over and over again in my thoughts.

In my observance of the political process in the last election, the reason that Trump won the Presidential election is not that he was the very best candidate, but because the Democratic candidate was not who it needed to be.

As the candidates for this next election come forward, think about who will be the most competitive in reaching the voters. I understand that President Trump has many supporters and I also know that many don't know why. I believe that we can worship God from the words of any preacher as long as we are open to God's teaching. The same is true with the leader of our country. I trust that God is in the mix and through prayer for our leaders, will reign.

It is essential as leaders not to be sidetracked by the overstimulation that our society delivers. A leader focused on the goal of good for all will rise. Let's pray to that end for this upcoming election time and be happy in our blessings, small and big. To not do so takes power away from the One who gives!

Proud Mom

This mom is holding her two and a half-month-old baby boy. She is a proud mom. One thing I know with certainty and that is that Peggy Wall was very proud of her oldest son (and all her children).  Clinton is everything his parents dreamed him to be. He is Godly, honest, humble, giving, a hard worker, a great husband, father, and grandfather. Thank you Peggy & TC.

Proud

Today I was excited to get to watch the dance competition LIVE online of our two out-of-town grandsisters. I could not be more proud of them. They have their mom written all over them. How they practice is how they perform, with expertise and showmanship! Super proud of them.

Here is one of my favorite pictures of their mom.

Close Your Eyes

CLOSE YOUR EYES...IMAGINE [phyllis wall 1988]

Now it’s time to close your eyes,

Picture in your mind God’s great big sky.

The sun is shining up above,

God wraps you in his arms of love.

Butterfly, butterfly, where do you go?

Up so high then down so low.

He sees the flowers blowing in the wind,

Lands on the tall green limb of the tree that bends.

Pull up the covers to keep you warm,

God’ will watch over you ‘til the sun of morn.

Top 10

Parents, my Top 10 things for raising children.

  • Love them unconditionally.
  • Discipline them. They are not in control.
  • Never allow an experience to dim the sparkle in their eyes.
  • Make sure they know their worthiness is found in Christ.
  • Teach them to read by reading.
  • Make sure they have a nightly bath, a good mattress, clean sheets, pillow and case, and a warm blanket. They will rest better.
  • Teach them organization and allow them tasks.
  • Give them the gift of music.
  • Let them create.
  • Teach them kindness and giving by example and participation.

And, there ya have it. What would you add to the list?

Kindness

Today we had the Conrad Lofts ribbon cutting and grand opening. It was so great to see hundreds upon hundreds come to share in the fun celebration. I ended up on 8 with these ladies. Truly I say, these ladies show kindness to others, especially me.

Those responsible for today's celebration were so appreciative of the support that they have received from the City and community. They shared that they aren't greeted with kindness everywhere they go. I replied it is what Plainview is known for, the City of Kindness!

Not a day goes by that I don't thank God that I'm allowed to live in Plainview surrounded by the best people.

Forgiveness

How many times should we forgive someone who has sinned against us or hurt us for that matter? We have all heard the scripture that says 70 x 7 (Matthew 18:21-22), at least I have. I do believe strongly in this Holy teaching, and I also believe that there is a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. For me, forgiveness does not = reconciliation. They are different. I believe that forgiveness is between God and me. We must forgive those who sin against us as God forgives us our sins through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. When someone hurts me, I go to God and work out the forgiveness part. In the equation of forgiveness, it is 1 to 1, me to God. There is no third party in the forgiveness process.  I forgive so God can set me free. Only God can work in the life of the other person.

Reconciliation is pure. It comes through the Holy Spirit's conviction or working in the lives of those involved. It is the process of healing a damaged relationship. I don't believe that reconciliation is a requirement to live a joyful and faith-filled life once forgiveness is found, but I do share in the belief that it should be considered as the desired outcome through prayer and petition.

God gives us boundaries and all relationships have them. Created boundaries will do one of two things, draw nearer or create distance. In adverse situations the later is typically the outcome. We must be willing to say goodbye to what we thought was a love relationship, place it at the cross, and be prepared to wait for God to reveal newness. Remember, this happens in God's timing.

When we seek forgiveness, and God sets us free we are prepared for reconciliation; relying on the Holy Spirit to acknowledge within us true healing unity when he has done the same for the other party.

Hebrews 12:14, Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

Ephesians 1:3-10, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

This is my quest, to follow the Star of Bethlehem, to find the promise of Jesus in my days!
