Proud is defined as feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's achievements, qualities, or possessions. Anything I have achieved in my life has been because God has led me and I pray that it was for His purpose in some way that something I did was successful.

I was told recently that I needed to try and be nice. These words stopped me in my tracks. I immediately began to reevaluate my life to determine if I was not a nice person. For a split second, I felt the hurt and then took my feelings to the Lord in prayer. He led me to forgive and gave me an all clear, it is well with my soul, encouraging word. I was reminded to turn the other cheek.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

I don't feel that I have outstanding qualities, but I do try to do the best at what I do. A quote I often say is, anything I can do, you can do better, and I believe this because I want to encourage others to be their best selves in doing. I can do some things well, but I am smart enough to realize, see, and connect others who are quite awesome at what they do. I don't need to do everything.

I enjoy the feeling I get, the warmness in my heart when I look at our precious family and friends treasures. They may make me smile but they don't make others smile. Possessions I am blessed with, but I can't take them with me. Doing for others is the correct way to connect life's dots. We are very blessed to be able to enjoy all of our needs being met and some of our wants. God has been abundantly gracious. My heart pumps best when I/we can help others.

I do take deep pleasure in my family. So in this, I must admit proudness. I think our children and grandchildren are beyond amazing and my husband is a special gift. My deep pleasure though is not found in anything I have done, but that God loved me enough to bless my life through them.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves...

I find that when I keep these thoughts in mind, I am a better person. I may not always do everything according to another's standard, but I earnestly try to live to God's. Remember, I'm a sinner saved by grace.

I'm so humbled that Christ died for my sins and that I have the Living Spirit within me that allows my eyes to see, my ears to hear, my heart to break...

It's okay to have some flakey, just don't brakey!!! LOL

We must always circle every situation around and back to God for good to be created through us, for us, and for others!

A Favorite Place

I want to share with you a favorite place of mine. It is a whimsical place. It allows one's mind to escape and be enveloped into a place of joy. At least it does this for me. I find joy all around me all of the time. Sometimes Satan tries to steal it through others or my thoughts, but I triumph through the respect of the Holy Spirit being the leader of my battles.

These pictures are a wall in the sunroom of our home. It is a bright and warm place to visit. It has redhead art and other whimsical details to enjoy.

I can talk all day long about the precious sentimental treasures found in this room!

A favorite place. They are important. Where is yours?

What a Day for a Hooded Merganser!!!

The hooded merganser is a species of small duck. It is the only extant species in the genus Lophodytes. The genus name derives from the Greek language: lophos meaning 'crest', and dutes meaning diver.

Today, as the ducks, geese, grackles, robins, and I sat by the water's edge, this hooded merganser came in and began gliding.

What a blessing today!

Fresh Find: I love this little booth at 725 Vintage Co.

Double Beauty

I enjoy seeing people use First Baptist Plainview as the background for their pictures. FB.PLV is a historical and architectural beauty. It enhances the subject matter, and people appreciate that. I captured this double beauty one evening. I would like to say that all are welcome to worship and participate in discipleship and ministry opportunities at First Baptist Plainview. I know you will be blessed. Take your pictures outside and worship with us inside. A double beauty.

Rising Above

We must get better about rising above controversial issues through compassionate education, or we will begin to see bitter people. When we share hurtfelt words that make others feel lesser because they don't understand or they disagree, we hammer the nail into the cross.

Every human deserves to see the love of Christ delivered them by those who confess to be followers of Christ. It is not an easy task. If a conversation leads to a quarrel, then quarrel we must not!

Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:23-26

I grew up in retail. The customer service that I learned is the customer service that God teaches us as disciples.

John 13:35, By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”

As Christians, we must provide a quality of Godliness that allows others to feel a difference that makes them take notice. It is not to say that some Christians are better than other Christians or the unsaved, it is that they will know we are Christians by our love, by our love and kindness. Showing love builds. Hard words tear down.

There is only one way that is the right way, and that is how God calls out to each of us to come to Him. His Word is faithful, trustworthy, and educationally undivided.

When we can grasp that this world where we live for such a short time leaves us holding nothing of eternal value, then we will begin to understand a deeper connection and tolerance of every human. We can't do this alone. We try. We fail. We need the peace that comes only through the Holy Spirit.

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:18

I believe when we do, He blesses that.

It is our choice to honor Him.

Fresh Find: Oh, my! That statement piece. gotta love this artist's work!!!

Living Waters

I enjoy very early printings of faith-based devotional books. I recently acquired the book, Living Waters.

It is a twice daily, a monthly devotional book filled with scriptures about the necessity of water and how God provides for us.

Then, about halfway through the pages there begins a preface explanation of the power of God's Word.

Made My Day

There are several things that made my day today. It was 2nd Saturday, and that is always an exciting time. So many have caught the vision!!!

I ran into a classmate, PHS Class of 1973, that I have not seen since high school, June Rodriguez. Her brother Victor was in our class, as well. I remembered that he passed away several years ago. We talked about the three restaurants her mom had owned through the years, and her dad has NuGriddle and Quick Lunch memories. I found out that one of my favorite artist friends, Angel Azua, is related to June. Small world. We talked downtown, and I heard her suggestions, and it was great to hear them!

Here, June lets her creativity flow as she makes her Valentine's heart as she enjoys time with her father!

Made my day! I'm so thankful she spoke to me, and we could visit.

She is as beautiful as I remember her being in school; inside and out. God is so very good!

Another 'made my day' moment is when Stella told the folks at 725 Vintage & Co. the only reason she left her house today is that she enjoys the pictures I post. Sweet, sweet! It humbles me that God might use me to bring joy to others.

Lots of kindness in this community! I'm continually blessed!!!

Fresh Find: What a great Papason chair!

In reading about icicles, I was reminded that to ripple, as they form, there must be a level of salt in the water, moisture, snow, etc. I have always been careful around icicles because I know that frozen water hurts when it hits, as in baseball-sized hail. I can't imagine being hit in the head by a large icicle.

This icicle had little salt because there aren't many ripples. The more salt, the more rippled.

I'm pretty certain we will need a new hose. This one fell into the hose from the roof yesterday.

Fresh Find: Love these icicles!

Young parents in 1977. We had been married almost two years. I would like to think that Clinton was reading the "how to care for and raise a baby" manual, but I'm pretty sure we did not have one back then. If you give a child a moral compass they will find their way, is what I learned.

Our first born weighed 9 pounds and 11 ounces. It was August. It was hot.

Fresh Find: A beautiful puzzle.
