Stop & Listen

Today is the day we have set aside to honor Martin Luther King Jr., author of the wisdom found in, I Have a Dream.

I need you to stop and listen for just 2 seconds. It will take two seconds and it's something that I feel strongly that we need to understand today.

Have you stopped? Are you listening (reading)? Okay, breathe in, breathe out. There it is, the breath of God that allows you and me to be in this very place and time today. It is important how we use our breaths for they are numbered by our God, who IS.

As we refresh our minds and hearts by reading King's words, his dream, let's determine to create a better day.

MLKJ Day 19

Let's heed these words as we reevaluate how far we have come and how the slope we are on as a Nation is steep and slippery, lest we all fall from the mountaintop of faith. Let's be known by our character.

Super Moon

Tonight's super moon lunar eclipse has been beautiful. The moon is of great comfort to me because it is one of God's created lights that allows me daily reflection.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained ... Psalms 8:3

Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light! Psalm 148:3

Fresh Find: A great gift. A 6 in 1 pen tool set.

There are so many individuals that God has placed in this little red-headed girl's life that have impacted her faith walk. I would never be able to name them all because of the great number that God delivered and is delivering still. He wired this little girl with exceptionality and called her unto him at age 6. From the day I asked Jesus into my heart, he has taken care of every situation as I have walked with him and talked with him. He has revealed everything as he sees fit and I trust that he knows, after all, he is God.

Be though an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4.12

"O little heart of mine! Shall pain

Or sorrow make thee moan,

When all this God is all for thee ~

A Father all thine own?"

My Daily Guide by T.W. Engstrom MCMXLIII (book belonging to Dorothy Tawwater from Mother 1952)

The moon is a constant comfort allowed us by the Creator. The impact it has over us is by God's design because he loves us and provides for us.

Fresh Find: Coordination?

Pretty Amazing

It is one of those times where I just don't feel like writing or taking pictures or really doing anything. I'm in a slump. Oh, I'll be okay, no worries; on the depression spectrum or the hamster wheel, not sure which! LOL

The moon is supposed to be a special one this weekend. Tonight's was pretty amazing!

23 Years

Back in the family after 23 years! This hooked rug was one made by my grandmother, Lucy May Hopkins Etter. When she passed away in 1996, it was sold at the estate sale. It ended up at what is now 725 Vintage Co. and has been there for all these years. I have walked by it many times there and thought that I should buy it. Today, it is back in the family!

This hooked rug represents the old water wheel I saw in Ruidoso, New Mexico on the many trips there with my mother and friends, and often my grandparents. My Cranny loved their soaps. It was a wonderful mercantile since burned down. I have many wonderful memories of visiting the "water wheel" store.

It has been washed and ready to find a place to rest.

I have been writing something since I met Millie Bishop, Plainview High School journalism teacher, back in the 70s. In May of 2006, I wrote my first personal blog online @ In His Hands. As my journey is woven by the Master, I share as a testimony to His goodness & love.

For a few years, the Plainview Daily Herald published blogs, and I wrote a blog about living in Plainview for them. When they stopped featuring blog-writers, people asked me to continue to share. In July of 2014, I wrote the first entry of Exploring Plainview Texas.

In between, I have written three books, and have a fourth one, the second collection of photography and thoughts in the works that may get finished one day. I am either taking pictures, recording thoughts or volunteering.

To date, I have written 6,286 blogs entries. In these years there have been 547,960 views from the website, and there is no measure of views from Facebook, which I joined in 2008.

There are moments where I don't see the purpose in what I do. I ask God often if I should continue or if I am in the ministry spot He desires. Always, he affirms this through an audible sign of words of encouragement. Numbers matter not to me because if I am allowed to share in the deliverance of joy to one person, they are worthy of His joy. How he uses what I write is His to do with as He pleases. I am only a vessel to be used for His glory.

I assure you that I would cease to write if God was not the center of the ministry. Facebook is God's platform, as well. There are times that I consider stepping away from it all, but I know that God uses me. I most often don't know who sees what, when or where, but God is at work. No doubt.

Hebrews 13:16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

This is the art photo shared on in the first Exploring Plainview blog in 2014...

Here is the first blog entry for the In His Hands blog from 2006...

Today is a wonderful day! I watched the Plainview High School graduation on TV tonight.  It looks like folks were hot.  I enjoyed so much seeing "my" HC-JR-LC members graduate!  They are such wonderful kids!!!  We do have some great kids in Plainview!  Speaking of great kids...Brant Wall graduated tonight, too!  Woo-hoo Brant!  I love that kid!!!

Zoey Belle is here visiting today & tonight.  I love my little grand-dog!  Chrissa & B are here for Brandon's great-grandmother's funeral.

Today has been a day of just kicking back.  I mowed & edged the yard, but other than that just did what I wanted to do!

My new business, Arissa Designs, is doing good.  I got in my first order for personalized notes.  They are so cute!  Does anyone need a nice little gift?  Give me a call.  I do creative social & business stationery, invitations, etc.

Well, this is a crazy world with some crazy people in it.  Maybe if we took the focus off ourselves and placed our labor into helping others, then it would grow into a more compassionate world!  At the very least it will make us feel a sense of accomplishment!

Fresh Find: A sweet baby swing.

One of the Christmas gifts to the grandsisters was a monthly Kiwi kit. The four of them got their first one this month. It is exciting to get mail and have it be for you and a bonus, a fun challenge!

Here, our local girls show off their projects.

A year of creating!!!

"From everlasting to everlasting, thou art God." Psalm 90:2

Behind the changing is the Changeless. I find hope in knowing that no matter what the physical delivers that creates a change, especially in a negative, my God is forever Changeless. His Word stands. My Salvation stands. My responsibility to be the light to others remains continually connected through his guidance and revelation in my life.

"In the volume of the Book it is written of Me," Martin Luther asks, "What Book and what person?" "There is only one Book," is his reply~"Scripture; and only one Person~Jesus Christ."

The Bible was not merely inspired but is so still. The Holy Spirit did not merely inspire the writers to deliver the words, but He makes the scriptures alive through delivering in them the breath of God; John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

How can this spirit-breathed book be understood without the spirit? The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14

The Bible is the Eternal Book. We breathe here the atmosphere of eternity. The author is He who is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

Every portion of scripture has meaning and application which no single age exhausts; it fulfills itself continually.

My God is changeless. He is my foundation. He reveals great things to me that written before I existed still apply to my journey today.

He is.

Give me eyes to see, ears to hear

and hands to touch the lives of others as the Holy Spirit walks and talks with me.

Final One

This picture is the final one, the last picture of a big blessing of photos that my life-long friend, Stephanie Thompson, shared with me from her mother, Pat Thompson's, collection. It is my favorite. Love his smile. You rarely saw one this big.
