Birthday Party in a Bag

Today, our Theta Delphin Study Club brought our Birthday Party in a Bag to our lunch, one for a boy and one for a girl. These will be available for foster parents to have for their foster child's birthday. It was such a fun project. A cake mix, icing, baking pan, cups, plates, napkins, forks, goody bags, candy, party gifts, decorations and a table covering was included in each bag.

We were missing several of our sisters. What a sweet group of ladies God has blessed my life through.

Political Ramble

I'm so done you cannot even stick me with a fork. You know, burned to a crisp. Charcoaled black. So black you could write on me with chalk.

There are many scriptures that I attempt to live my life through. I can't share them all with you today, but one that God has placed on my mind as I write is, 2 Corinthians 6:12-18...

12 We didn't fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren't small, but you're living them in a small way.
13 I'm speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!
14 Don't become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war. Is light best friends with dark?
15 Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands?
16 Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God's holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way: "I'll live in them, move into them; I'll be their God and they'll be my people.
17 So leave the corruption and compromise; leave it for good," says God. "Don't link up with those who will pollute you. I want you all for myself.
18 I'll be a Father to you; you'll be sons and daughters to me."
In verse 16 we read, "Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God's holy Temple?" This is exactly what Satan has done in the hearts and minds of those who spew political negativity and bullying that leaves red and blue bruises on friendships, divides families and freely slanders Christianity.
We ARE a temple in which God lives. He is alive within us, and we are to reflect Him to others through who we are because of His great love.
So, leave the corruption and compromise!!! Leave it for good. It is Satan-driven pollution. We must devote ourselves to purposeful living. This is not to say that we should not become involved in the process of political participation. It is the extreme that draws us away. The negative spirit of entitled opinion that hurts others who may choose another opinion.
No one is right but God the Father. It does not matter how learned you are or how simplistic you live. What matters is the fact that fear comes from feeling small. God does not fence us in. There is no fear with Him! We can live life so much bigger than the political arena being forced upon us.
So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:16
Some may claim this verse in the political arena because they are sharing loudly for one side or the other. It is good to take a stand for what we believe in. Taking a stand does not create a temperature. It is just one person's opinion of earthly governing. What creates hot and cold is how we reflect God to the world. Which is it going to be? Cold, with daggers flying into the hearts of others for what is seen as a personal political gain? Or embracing each other with kindness, tolerance, love, and Holy peace?

Hearing Aids

One of the things I kept of my moms was her hearing aids. I'm not sure why, but I did. I mean, I need them now! I thought about them today and went to get them, and they were not there. Oh no!

Of course, my day has been spent trying to find them. In the process, several areas have gotten an organization facelift. Still, no hearing aids.

Then, it dawned on me that I might have placed them with the family pictures in the basement closet. Ding! Ding! Ding! They are located.

I don't need them. I just needed to know that they were still here. My whisper in her ear was the last she heard before the Master called her home. Thankful and blessed!

I did not remember that she was politically split!

Darkness, the opposite of brightness, is best described as a lack of illumination or an absence of visible light. Human vision is unable to distinguish color in conditions in the darkness. In conditions with insufficient light levels, color perception ranges from achromatic to ultimately black.

Imagine that place of total darkness in your life. That moment when you anguished over the reason for your purpose. It is like a bottomless pit; dark and uncontrollable.

One of the things that I find most beautiful is the ruralness of my divine placement. To travel out away from the city lights to the countryside where we are enveloped by darkness. To lay out on the hood of the car or sit in the back of a pickup truck and look into the sky. Are those stars of light in the deepest darkness? God provides the nightlight for us.

He did not create darkness without hope.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

Imagine sitting in a place in total darkness. You can't see your hand in front of you. Your feet would not know where to go if they could. We lose all sense of direction. Then you strike a match or flip on the flashlight, and the light overcomes the darkness.

In the darkness of the world, the war between good and evil is taking place. We are there in the darkness, and then, there is Light.

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son... Colossians 1:13

Once we see because of the Light of Hope, we realize that there never has to be that place of total darkness because we continually have the Light within us. Oh, we have our sinning times, but there will never be a time when the Light is extinguished once we accept the Light. We are overcomers. Some it may take11 days, and for others, it may take 40 days, to allow the Light to shine enough to light the way.

Then, we become the illuminators for God.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Walking Memories

I was a latchkey kid before the word latchkey was a word. Both of my parents worked in retail, and I walked home from school every day. I attended College Hill Elementary and walked to 313 Irene Street. It was about ten blocks. I had strict instructions to never get into a car with anyone. I've mentioned before that my forever since toddler age friend's mom stopped and asked me if I wanted a ride home. I said no because you could be her (Marie) in a costume. So, I walked.

We were all at my grandparent's house on Nassau, and my mother left her purse at home on Irene Street. My cousin and I left and walked from Nassau Street to our home on Irene Street. We did not lock the doors, so there was no need to tell anyone where we were going. We walked everywhere & no one would miss us. We got to her purse to get the money (probably to go to Mrs. Breland's just south of Highland School on 10th Street) and the lights shined in the front screen door. We stood scared to death. Who was it? Well, come to find out it was the police. They took us back & I got a spanking from the police officer.

I would walk from Irene Street to the Gabriel-Wayland Shopping Center to visit the 5 & Dime Stores that were there through the years. I remember buying tiny turtles and surprising my parents. They always died after a few days so, no worries. This is where I first fell in love with the Japanese wind chimes. I never had one growing up. We do now; several and I love them.

When I was maybe 8 years old, I stole a little bag of miniature baby dolls one time from T G & Y. My brother caught me and took care of it. I disappointed him and never did that again.

We use to walk all through the Running Water Draw. We would spend all day there in the summers. We would capture Horny Toads and collect Devils Claws. We would go into the river bed, and the sides were at least thrice our height.

When my grandparents worked for the US government and distributed commodities, I would walk all over downtown Plainview. It was where I would be many summertime days. Casey's Bakery, Alexander-Neis, Woolworth, and everything in between. In and out pulling those big heavy wooden doors, entering to wood floors and ceiling fans.

We walked almost every summer day to the Plainview Country Club from Irene and Norma Streets. Debby and sometimes one or two more neighborhood kids, but mostly just us. We would spend all afternoon till dinnertime there. Many times they would have rock bands come and play for the teen night. We were all so in love with the band.

Walking is what we did until we got cars. Then we circled. That's another blog!

Silly Butterflies

Today this cat sat watching the many butterflies in our butterfly garden area. It would get right up to them with its nose, and they would flit away. Silly butterflies!

Random Thoughts

Sometimes my mind just has pops of thoughts...okay, it always does, but today I am sharing!

Do we consider God a spare tire? Forgotten as we roll along until life blows.

God is not a 'just in case' God.

Give me a whiff of YOUR glory!

What is our one word that we hold respectfully for only the Glorious God?

We don't fear God because we don't know him.

God is not to be compared.

We are not that great.

We are held together by the Word of HIS power.

Nothing can be disconnected from God.

Rent-a-God? So little tithe.

He wants us to experience his presence, but we must leave behind what He just delivered us from.

We love God by choice.

General and broad vs. direct and personal.

Sunday is the primer or our bouncing board into the Living pool of worship.

We are designed to worship something.

Draw near so that He can control our peace.

We are over the counter Christians; rarely seeking the Great Physician and His prescription for life.

Follow is an action word.
