DELETE

I was writing a blog about my wiring and sharing thoughts because I felt it was what I needed to do and then, I thought, no one wants to read about how I'm wired differently and how each day is a challenge. I mean, I don't want to read about it either! DELETE

So, what to write about? My non-existent bucket list? My pet peeves? The list of things I do not want to experience? Why I'm not a photographer? Encouraging 101? Organizing to fit? The arts iniquity = emotional imbalance in America's youth? How to trap the furry-tailed rat aka squirrel or a couple of fat Dove? Why I believe Pinterest is of the devil? The car we drive won't get us to heaven? Anything I can do, you can do better. You can do anything better than me, yes, you can!!! So, please, do!!!?

What about Ecclesiastes 7?

Wisdom

A good name is better than fine perfume,
and the day of death better than the day of birth.
It is better to go to a house of mourning
than to go to a house of feasting,
for death is the destiny of everyone;
the living should take this to heart.
Frustration is better than laughter,
because a sad face is good for the heart.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.
It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person
than to listen to the song of fools.
Like the crackling of thorns under the pot,
so is the laughter of fools.
    This too is meaningless.

Extortion turns a wise person into a fool,
and a bribe corrupts the heart.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
and patience is better than pride.
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.

10 Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?”
For it is not wise to ask such questions.

11 Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing
and benefits those who see the sun.
12 Wisdom is a shelter
    as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
Wisdom preserves those who have it.

13 Consider what God has done:

Who can straighten
    what he has made crooked?
14 When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
God has made the one
    as well as the other.
Therefore, no one can discover
    anything about their future.

15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these:

the righteous perishing in their righteousness,
and the wicked living long in their wickedness.
16 Do not be overrighteous,
    neither be overwise—
    why destroy yourself?
17 Do not be overwicked,
and do not be a fool—
    why die before your time?
18 It is good to grasp the one
and not let go of the other.
Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.

19 Wisdom makes one wise person more powerful
than ten rulers in a city.

20 Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous,
no one who does what is right and never sins.

21 Do not pay attention to every word people say,
or you may hear your servant cursing you—
22 for you know in your heart
that many times you yourself have cursed others.

23 All this I tested by wisdom and I said,

“I am determined to be wise”—
    but this was beyond me.
24 Whatever exists is far off and most profound—
    who can discover it?
25 So I turned my mind to understand,
to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things
and to understand the stupidity of wickedness
    and the madness of folly.

26 I find more bitter than death
the woman who is a snare,
whose heart is a trap
    and whose hands are chains.
The man who pleases God will escape her,
but the sinner she will ensnare.

27 “Look,” says the Teacher, “this is what I have discovered:

“Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things—
28     while I was still searching
    but not finding—
I found one upright man among a thousand,
but not one upright woman among them all.
29 This only have I found:
    God created mankind upright,
but they have gone in search of many schemes.”

Wow, this was quite the life reflection from Solomon.

I take this to represent that the course of life we pursue should be a God-centered life. The pleasures of life are not essential to fulfillment and cannot offer eternal satisfaction, but they can be enjoyed. Life offers good times and bad and follows no pattern, but that comes from the hand of God:

When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
God has made the one
as well as the other.
Therefore, no one can discover
anything about their future.—Ecclesiastes 7:14

And women, you have something divinely special and beautiful so use it wisely.

Life's valleys may not be enjoyable, but they can mold us into the people of faith we ought to be.

Gift

Almost without fail, when I go out to see what special gift God has for me in his nature, he blesses me with something so amazing!

The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes change; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

The day we buried my mother there were hundreds of blue dragonflies flitting all around her gravesite. So, this evening when I went outside just to breathe in the coolness of the air and spotted this one resting for the evening, it reminded me of the special dragonfly gift God gave me about five years ago.

Blow Your Mind

In a recent study, I came across this video by Francis Chan...

I'm sure after you watched it you have figured out that the tractor is the church and the manual is the Bible.

If we took away all the people who steadily push the church along, would we still have a church?

Matthew 16:24-26 Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

Be still and pray. When we pray it, believe it.

John 16:13-15 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

He leads, he guides, he discloses!

The Holy Spirit will blow your mind. If you haven't been open to this power, seek it. A little red tractor, a group of dedicated followers, with an Owners manual, and a Trinity of faith, hope, and love.

Personally

What is the first thing we do when someone hurts our feelings? We take it personally, right? When if truth be told, the first thing we should do in any valley situation is to ask God, "What do you want to teach me and how can I serve you by helping others from what I learn?" Every battle does not have to be won with bloodshed. Jesus has already done that for our Eternal forgiveness.

I always ask myself, or ask the Holy Spirit, if there is anything not right in my soul to reveal it. If it isn't right, I can't be in a full relationship with God. If it is right, as I always say, "It is well with my soul."

There are things I can't make right because they aren't mine to control. Again, show me, God, what I need to learn in the hurt or sorrow, or loneliness, or whatever the emotion might be.

We need to seek discernment to align ourselves with God.

I believe I am on the mission field. What I say and do matters. When we are in it with purpose and passion, Satan is a force to reckon with. He attacks and how we respond will make the difference in our joy.

This isn't to say that we never roll up in a ball and cry ourselves dry. We are human. Healing is a process, a journey, that may take minutes or years. It's our story.

The story is written by our choices. The story isn't about us personally. It is daily vignettes that are captured for an audience that has been personally invited by God to attend.

The moon gift never ceases to amaze me. It is the light of night. Night, when darkness comes, and fear lurks, the moon shines to remind us that he is there in the darkest days. Personally mine!

Just the Same

Every child is born uniquely different. Their needs from their parents differ from one child to the next. Some are easy children, some require more time to train, and others parents want to throw up their hands and say, I tried. It is important to remember that they each need the same thing, love. It is how love is delivered as to whether their need is met. Parents love their children just the same, but each child's needs are different.

A family is made up of parental and child roles. A child must know that they can go to their parental role model anytime with the confidence that the parental role model is available to them, to listen, instruct, and recharge in love.

As children of God, our Father, is always available. Without fail he is there. He loves each of his children, just the same, according to their needs. I find comfort in this. I will never measure up as a parental role model or as a Christian according to the standard set by the world. What I do know is that the Holy Spirit burns into my soul the brand of Abba Father. I am his, and he is mine.

I pray he is yours.

Reunion Book

For many years the Dayton Family had reunions. My mother created a reunion book with pictures from each sibling and their family represented in the book. Emma and Wilbur had eleven children. One was a twin and died at birth. Some of the aunts or uncles, I never met. Several I met a few times. A few played a role in who I am today. Beautiful people.
