Pretty + Tired ...

Today I drove my mother & Robert to Lubbock to to an eye appointment for Robert.  We ate at the new restaurant, Bistro.  It was good.  We stopped at the Catholic Family Services retail shop for them to browse afterwards.  Big day.  I was tired when I started.  At least I got to read while I waited.  Love my Kindle!!!

This fancy cabbage was outside the eye doctor office.  Aren't the colors so very pretty?

Steeples ...

Steeples have always fascinated me.  Steeples were first used as bell towers to let the community know of worship times.  Some had clocks on them as well as a bell in them.  They also give distinction to where to go to worship.

This steeple and its church building has been a part of who I am for nearly 58 years.

Of course, things have changed through the years.  I can remember the original worship center being in the building viewed here.  I can remember being a young child and running around upstairs in the no longer used balcony of that worship center.  We were married in the chapel that is now our choir room.  I can even remember the current sanctuary being constructed. I'm not sure that I really remember the dumb waiter being used to carry things from one floor to the others, but I certainly remember where it was hidden behind refinished walls.  One of my very favorite things was the playing of the chimes.  It hasn't been so many years ago that music played from the steeple area.  I love hearing the hymns sound through downtown.  I miss that.

A steeple and its church building are man-made and mean nothing to eternity.  The people within tell the story.  Remember the little pre-school poem...Here's the church, here's the steeple?  There are several variations I've heard through the years.  Whichever one we learned...people were in the middle of it.  Here is one...

How does God see us as being in the center of his story?  I pray he finds us like a steeple; a guide to the community.  A place where they can, sinners redeemed through the blood of Christ, find a place where they can worship.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8   "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away."

A steeple and its church ... the stories they could tell through the years.  The stories of growing, change, believers, sinners, grace, and love...the love of God.

Inner Kid ...

I don't really have that inner kid desire for teddy bears (or stuffed horses) and dolls, trucks or tinker toys.  I'm weird or wired like that!  LOL  I saw this line up today and it made me think where would I put this.  LOL  My mother likes teddy bears.  She sits them around her Christmas tree (which is STILL up by the way).  Maybe I should get her one for her birthday Saturday???  On another note...are you ready for Valentine's Day?  Need a teddy for your inner kid?  They are cute aren't they?

Fresh Find:  Now, my inner kid might like this though...a VW van tent!  WHOOP!!!

Salsa ...

No I'm not a dancer and I cannot do the Salsa!  I'm not even a good cook but I like salsa so I made it again but with a new recipe created by me.

Place each ingredient into one large bowl, mix.  You will need a Ninja or blender that will pulse.  Pour with spouted cup into pulsing machine.  Pulse then pour into a separate clean bowl.  Do this until all of original mixture is pulsed.  Stir.  Pour into jars or containers.  Enjoy.  Made 9 small jars.

Note: You can use your personal taste variations with these ingredients.
