Spring is HERE!!!

Spring is here for real!  We are under a thunderstorm watch!  Maybe, just maybe it will rain.  It has been months since we have been blessed with those little drops!

Our Easter Lily bloomed today, too.  It is trying to tell us that our seasons must be off a little bit! (God is in control!!!)

1st Memorial Day...

Sunday I ended up sitting in the First Baptist Church of Temple, Oklahoma.  We were in the area for Clinton's mom's Glasgow reunion.  Since Clinton's family came to Plainview from Temple and they still have family there, we typically will be in attendance there during reunion time.

Today they had a wonderful memorial service to honor and remember their church member's family that serve and served in the armed services through a video presentation.  It was really very touching.

The pastor spoke from 1 Corinthians 11:24-36, The First Memorial Day...

and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world. So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together. Anyone who is hungry should eat something at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment.  And when I come I will give further directions.

His question was this...Is death your friend or is death your foe?  In other words...are you ready?

Their choir sang this special song...

America Bless God
Larry Harrison & Joel Mott

From the mountains of majesty
to the amber waves of grain
I see the blessing of your hand
and recall a familiar refrain

We sing God bless America
won't you come and bless us once again
But your heart longs to hear
a nation fall on its knees and say

America Bless God
all across the fruited plains
America Bless God
lift your voice and praise his holy name
For he's been good, he's been faithful
by his hand our nation stands
So won't you sing all across this land
America bless God
America bless God

From the very beginning
Our fathers came so we could worship you
from generation to generation
time and again You have seen us through

Still we sing God bless America
won't You come and bless us once again
But your heart longs to hear
a nation fall on its knees and say

America Bless God
all across the fruited plains
America Bless God
lift your voice and praise His holy Name
For He's been good, He's been faithful
by His hand our nation stands
Won't you sing all across this land
America bless God
America Bless God

Time to change our tune, sing a different song
a song of gratefulness for what He's done
Let our light shine bright
Let the whole world know
It's in God we trust and in Him alone

Oh God You are my God and I will ever praise You
Oh God You are my God and I will ever praise You

America Bless God
America Bless God

America Bless God
all across the fruited plains
America Bless God
lift your voice and praise His holy Name
For He's been good, He's been faithful
by His hand our nation stands
Won't you sing all across this land
America bless God
America bless God
America bless God

Today a man came before the church who had come for marriage counseling and in the process asked Jesus into his heart.  After he told the church he had accepted Christ he was baptized.  It was the first time I had seen anyone baptized in the small country church.  I had always admired their baptistery, with its flowing river in the back ground.  Today, especially,It was the most beautiful picture of what Jesus is always doing within his people...moving!

.

Of course, the trip was perfect because we got to spend some time with our sisters, as in the grand-girls!

55 Feet...

When I say 55 feet, I'm not thinking a caterpillar with lots of them, I'm talking feet in the air.  Well, a caterpillar's feet could be in the air, but not in this conversation.  I think some heavy equipment is a Caterpillar brand!  LOL  What I am saying is that I am about 55 feet in the air looking down from a silo...into the north-western horizon.

Playhouse...

To tell you how poor I was growing up...so you'll feel really sorry for me ;o)...my friend Debby Duncan (Ketchersid) had a playhouse and the family behind us had a playhouse.  I did not! Well, our friend Leah Wood (Smith) did not have one either...we played under their big Weeping Willow Tree on the north side of their house.  I had a little table that I made out to be the teacher's desk on our front porch where we spent hours in 'summer school'!  We played 'school' quite a bit.  Mostly we roamed the neighborhood, the Running Water Draw, and between houses and playhouses.  We left in the morning and came home at dark, always stopping at someone's house for a quick snack several times during the day!

I want a playhouse. ;o)  I want to enjoy each day with the ease of a life with no worries...childlike!

Everyone needs these subway socks...that's why I picked them as my Fresh Find today!

Next Life Job???

I think in my next life I will sell real estate.  I can sit and look at houses on-line for hours!  I can watch HGTV house selling all day long!  The difference between watching and looking and actually selling real estate is a 4 letter word called WORK!

I don't think I would enjoy the paperwork part of that job.  I'm pretty sure I would not love the homes or Holmes inspection part either!

I would love showing the house and helping the buyer see its full potential.

I guess I will just enjoy myself as I browse!

.

If I had younger legs I would own this Fresh Find!

Hard Labor...

Johnnymackjosieclair_edited-1
John Mack and Josie Clair Crisp Robison are Clinton's great-grandparents on his mother's side.  Johnny Mack died in 1955 the year Clinton was born and Josie died in 1965, when he was 10.  They were born in the late 1800s. I'm not sure who the boys are in the picture but, they all look ready to pick some cotton.  Picking cotton by hand is said to be very painful.  I've heard stories of cuts, abrasions, heat stroke, bad backs...I cannot imagine the kind of hard labor our early families endured.

When we think that our job is tough...whatever it is, or we are having a bad day...just remember what those before us had to do to get us to the age of ease in farming and life that we enjoy today.  We are blessed!  Let's be thankful!!!

.

I really like this Fresh Find and think it would make a great Father's Day gift!

Little Phyllis...

Little Phyllis and her family are doing well.  They herald from Nairobi, Kenya.  We feel so blessed to be a part of their lives.  Even though oceans seperate us God brings us together.  Vincent is in seminary school, Peris has been able to start her classes, and the children, Florence, Lucy, and Phyllis (in orange), are joys to watch grow up!

Bump . Indention...

This morning in the worship service at First Baptist Plainview (Dr. D.L. Lowrie) I was reminded of my duty to humanity:

1. Fear God (live in reverent awe)

2. Keep the "Big 10" (as in commandments) Side note: The first four lay the foundation for the remaining six.

3. We will be judged for our lives good and bad (The only fear we need is of our Creator)

.

Ecclesiastes 12: 13b-14

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

.

The wise invest their lives and will be accountable to it.  To invest our lives we must organize our lives around worshipping God.

As we lay our foundation and build on it we allow God to cover our little Salvation bump into a hill and then into a mountain.  When we don't do this we have an indention that will be filled by everything and anything that fills the void.

Are we creating a bump or allowing an indention?

.

We recognized our high school seniors...of course I teared up.  Elias shared their last children's sermon and Dr. Gary Manning sang them a special song.  Oh, the places they will go!  They have a foundation "bump" now they need to allow God to build on it with their lives!!!

.

Joyful decisions this morning, too!  Building on our "bump" :O)

.

I know I would much rather drive over a speed bump than hit a pot hole indention...you with me?

This is Koltin (now 16) and Chris (6th grade) in 2002.  LOL  I came across this and it made me smile!!!
