Today I brought the ornaments in. Well, actually, I had to get Clinton to come home and help me carry them in. Nope, not because they were heavy, but because the metal piece they hang on was too long for me to easily get it and me down the ladder. In my old age I'm trying to not be as risky as I use to be!

There are 4-8' bars and they are full of lifelong ornaments. Ornaments made by me when I was a young girl, those made by our kids, some from friends, many from family, a few that were bought, and all have a story to tell!
Since we do not have a tree to place them on (by choice) when I do get them out (some years I don't) I hang them from the crown molding that is all around the center living area of our home. It is hard to describe the way our house is designed and I won't post many pictures of it because of safety issues so all I can do is share a snippet of one wall. Imagine hundreds of ornaments from the front to the side to the back to the side of our home. I love it!

Let me tell you about this art piece. I made it when I was about 24 and the Women's Missionary Union Director of our church. It was Foreign Mission time and this was the 'C' of a huge banner that hung from our balcony at First Baptist Church. It said, "Christ is the Reason for the Season." This letter 'C' is the only letter that had the artwork in it, the Nativity from different countries.
After the offering time during the holiday season the banner was to be trashed. I clipped the 'C' off and had it framed. That was about 26 years ago! Wow!
My dear friend, Sally Eaves, wrote in calligraphy 1 Peter 1:3-9 for me underneath it. 1 Peter 1:3-9 says:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

My Fresh Find are these hanging sachets. You don't see these often.
