Mascot...

I had the honor of being our Bulldog mascot at tonight's football game.  They have had "celebrity" mascots this season and the crowd gets clues to guess.

So, I arrived to Spike's House around 7:15 and got ready.  It is cold here tonight in the 40s at game time.  I'm always freezing, too.  Not in the suit.  I left on a puffy coat I brought to give me some padding!  I was sweating like a pig as they say. I did not ever get cold.  When I finished everything was soaked.

Being a mascot is difficult.  You look out a burka window.  Now I know a little better how women feel who wear this covering.  I nearly got hit by the football one time.  You can't move too quickly for sure.

Anyway, it was a fun experience and an honor to be asked to participate.  I wish we had been winning because the crowd would have been greater and the spirit higher.

It is amazing how hard ou kids work to participate in our school extra-curricular.  Thanks PHS students!!!

Kindness...

Tonight as we were eating dinner at a local restaurant one of our local city "walkers" came in.  This man is one that we see walking all around town.  He wanted another potato.  They must have given him one a previous time.  He did not have money so, I'm thinking he wanted the restaurant to feed him for free again.  The conversation went on and the manager could not give him food again.

We were sitting right there and I was just getting ready to tell him to order from the menu and we would buy his dinner, when a young woman, no more than 20, walked over and asked him if she could buy him a potato.  She did and he thanked her.

We were sitting the closest and I really don't think that others could hear the conversation like we could.  These two young ladies were sitting a ways away.  They sensed the need and acted upon it.

This is what we are suppose to do...be sensitive to what God wants us to do and act on it.  I must say that I was very impressed with our younger generation!  God is good!!!

Happy Halloween from Miss Adelyn!

Father-Daughter...

There is just something about a father-daughter relationship that is special.  Here is a picture of me with my father Christmas of 1955.  It is one of the few I have of us together when I was younger.

Spiritual Radar...

In this "love" study it talks about our spiritual radar for others in need.  It is my prayer that I be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's nudge to action.  It also talked about slowness = love.  We must slow down to be sensitive.  We can't feel nudges when we are so busy doing things!  I am the type that does one thing at a time.  I put all my energy into whatever it is I am doing.  My focus is there.  I have had to clear my life to become aware of my intended nudges.  I'm working on love and kindness towards those that God places in my path.

Three Reasons Why...

Three reasons why love needs to be our number one priority...

Love is the supreme value in life.

Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

+

Love is the primary objective of life.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbals. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

+

Love is the greatest power in life.

1 Corinthians 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Ephesians 5:2

and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

.

If you don't learn how to love, your life is a failure. Rick Warren

I am doing a Bible study by Rick Warren called 40 Days of Love.  Oh, it will be hard for me, I can assure you of that.  I love deeply, but I am not good at showing my love.  I have issues with accepting love, too.

One of the first questions was who is the most loving person you have ever known, and what did their life look like.  It [the study] already hasn't started off well and I would like to not continue please. :O)

I only have come to know one person, and that is Jesus Christ, who I feel is the most loving person.  Don't get me wrong.  There are many who love, but most loving...for me it has to be my best friend Jesus, as in The Christ Child.

He has taught me that it is through relationships that we grow others to him.  It doesn't matter who we are or where we come from, our focus must be in loving others as we love ourselves in Him. We were made for relationships!

I'm sure you will hear more from me on this as I go through it.  Will you see a change?  Will you see a new me?  I know you wish you would.  I don't know if God will reveal it to those who mock me, but I know anything I do in his name will be glorified!!!

I'm ready. In my heart Lord, be glorified, be glorified!!!
