Ultimate fan...

Today I rode my bike (yes the Cruiser) to the WBU baseball park and watched the start of one of the games in the SAC Tournament.  I was one of the very few non team fans there.  There was one fan that was really enjoying the game.  Is he not the cutest?

Tourterelle triste

Tourterelle triste or Mourning Dove.  We have a couple in our yard.  They just watch me when I'm out working.  They only fly away if I get too close.  Here are the new babies!

Look at these cute babies!!!  Gussie & Gertie!!!

They are just coming out of the nest and they sure are watching and learning!

I say cute, but they are kind of ugly up close...but isn't it amazing how God created them?  Look at the detail on its head!!!

Here is some Mourning Dove info for you...

During nest-building, the female stays at the nest and the male collects sticks. He stands on her back to give her the nest material. She takes it and weaves it into the nest. Maybe that's why the nests are so poorly built!

The Mourning Dove almost invariably lays two eggs. Clutches of three or four are the result of more than one female laying in the nest. A dove may have up to five or six clutches in a single year.

A Mourning Dove pair rarely leaves its eggs unattended. The male usually incubates from midmorning until late afternoon, and the female sits the rest of the day and night.

The Mourning Dove is the most widespread and abundant game bird in North America. Despite being hunted throughout most of its range, it remains among the 10 most abundant birds in the United States.

No fresh eggs tonight, but I do have a Fresh Find!!!  This board for folding shirts and sweaters.  Looks pretty interesting!!!

Wonderful Sunday...

This morning in worship we heard about healing families.  Taking the first step, even when we don't think it is our fault. I try hard to keep peace.  There really is no one that I don't love in our families.  There are several that it is easier to not be around.  I think we all have those!  It was a great lesson.

.

The best thing is one of our 2nd graders accepted Christ. This is a whoo-hoo, jump for joy, nothin' feels better to our hearts than this ~ kind of day!!!

.

Sunday's Fresh Find is this great looking handbag.  I like the looks of this brand!

Graduation Party...CHA-CHA-CHA

We had a graduation party tonight in Lubbock at Clay's Cafe.  It was a fun group.  Here are a couple of pictures...

There is a photo album of the other pictures in the left sidebar.  Check them out!!!  Here is our honoree, Miss Ellen.  I have enjoyed watching her grow up.  When we did Upward cheerleading I got to know her better.  She is a typical teenager and one that is very special to me.  God has richly blessed my life by allowing our paths to cross.

New books...

Ohhh, I'm excited.  I bought two new books today.  The complete Guide to the Bible by Stephen Miller and Anna's Story A Journey of Hope by Jenna Bush.  I know God is going to show me something great in both of them.

.

Have a great Friday!!!

Music is one thing that we all enjoy.  Today's Fresh Find is this "mini" Jukebox.  I always wanted a 45 record one and never got it.  This one says it is a 10 CD one...Cr1210_lgit would be fun.

Can we give without the glory?

In 2 Corinthians 10:17 & 18 it says: Let him who boasts boast to the Lord.  For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one who the Lord commends.

It is hard for us as humans to do things and not get rewarded for it.  In our jobs we need that to get to the top.  At home we need it to fill like we are doing a good job.  In volunteering we need it to gain recognition.  OR do we need to boast at all?  Do we need commending?

I think we do need to be assured and we find that when we are following God's leadership in our lives.  Earthly recognition is not a bad thing at all.  For some it leads to improved service.  For others the end of service.  We all need a little pat on the back from time to time.

I am a weird duck though...I prefer to serve and not be recognized for I know that my God will commend me for anything I might do that is good and worthy of praise.

My question is can we give without the glory?  Are there always strings attached?  You rub my back & I'll rub yours deals? I don't know...I've just been thinking about it.  I know so many who do and have done really great things and have never been recognized.  Some are bitter about it, others are not because they serve because they are in it for different reasons maybe?  Just think about why you do what you do.

There is glory and then there is GLORY, and I want my life to be a representation of the later.  I want to be the hands & feet extension of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Will you?

I found these adorable cakes and gingerbread houses as my Fresh Find, only they aren't real.  They are what we might consider "green" cakes???  They are reusable and tons of fun.  I can see them as centerpieces, conversation starters, games, etc.  They come in a variety of designs.  I even think you can send them YOUR ideas!!!  Get creative!

Isn't it strange, in an awesome way, how we look like family even through many generations?  Here is a picture of my dad's (John Dayton) dad & mom.  Yup. my dad looked like his dad!!!  Although, I will say that my dad was much better looking!!! ;o)

This is me.  Looks like I  just might be related to the boys in the picture above!!!  Actually, the picture above could be our kids from looking back through our pictures!!!  No, they did not wear hand-me-down coveralls.  Just their faces, profiles...could be Chrissa & Aaron.

.

God did not create us by chance.  I do not choose to believe that God is an ape either.  I believe my God is before all and will be after all. He is my all in all!!!

This place mat with built in napkin ring is my Fresh Find today.  I love the simplicity of these. (that would be grape juice in the glass ;o)

Lord of hosts...

Lord of hosts.  What does this mean?  So, I did some looking!  Lord Almighty comes to mind.  Maybe the greatness of God???  In looking I found this definition, or "Lord of Sabaoth."

.

The Lord of Sabaoth was a title of Jehovah; the hosts were the armies of Israel, but also included the angelic armies of heaven.
.
In reading I found it interesting that the word "Lord" is often described as someone as great by reason of relationship.  Someone's Lord is someone who is greater than them within a relationship!
.
God as the self existent one that is God entirely independent of anything and anyone around Him best describes the Lord of Hosts.  God that is in control of all the power and might of the earth, but is made personal by the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ which allows us eternal life.
.
There is a war going on around us each and every moment of the day.  The war is between God & Satan.  It is all around.  Do you sense it?
.
Do you remember the story of David & Goliath?  How do you think a little nerdy, wimpy guy won over the huge "beast" of the time?  David believed in the power, the might, of the Almighty God.

Via Chicago Tribune: A religious rite of passage on the battlefield - Marine Sgt. (taken out to protect), Ind., is baptized Wednesday in Fallujah, Iraq, by Lt. (taken out to protect), a Navy chaplain, in an improvised pool of cardboard boxes containing Meals Ready to Eat. (taken out to protect) and three others asked for the rite after three comrades died, including two in the courtyard--"the middle of hell," as one of the GIs called it--where the ceremony took place. (Los Angeles Times photo by Rick Loomis)

.
I find it interesting that so many are opposed to the war in the world that we see, but never give a thought to the war that saves us for eternity.
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

Jewelry for Mother's Day is often a big hit, especially when it is personalized as is today's Fresh Find.  This circle bracelet with husband & kids initials...how special!
