There are a couple of things that were said that I want to share.  Beverly said that our service starts in our church.  Our faith should be the source for our service.  If we are doing something for our glory then it won't be blessed, can't be.  Oh, it may get done, but the joy and true success is not there.  That is why everything we do must be God led.  Both mentioned their families and how supportive they are in all they try to accomplish.  Anyone who is married to someone or is a child of someone who feels led to make a difference through community service knows the sacrifices that families make for this to be accomplished.  God blesses those who serve in his name.  Both of this year's winners are so very deserving, as were all those nominated.  We do live in a wonderful community with varying levels of community servants; those visible and those behind the scenes!

Shooting & Driving!

Today I was busy, busy.  Going here & there and working on Wayland things and Ketcher-Smith wedding things.  Got blown around in Lubbock.  It was way windy there!!!  Here are 2 pictures I took out my window of the landscape and sunset as I was driving home this evening!  Do you think there is a law against that?  I think that it isn't a good idea!!!

Relationships...

Relationships are like a heart transplant.  Our bodies will never completely accept another's organ...but with the right medicament the "ousider" is accepted.  In relationships, God is the medicament.  Through Him ALL things are possible!!!

Dickens for Mother

Today was my mom's birthday.  I had asked her last week if she would like to drive over to Dickens to see her friend, Geneta, that moved there several months back.  I thought it would be a fun birthday day for us.  It all worked out great.  This morning we left at 9 and drove to Lubbock because I needed to buy flowers for the WBU Centennial arrangements.  On the way to Lubbock, about Abernathy, we got to hear Wes & Larry (Saturday morning radio fame duo) sing Happy Birthday to my mom and tell everyone that all my talents came from her...MADE HER DAY!!!  Thanks Wes & Larry.  Got to Lubbock around 10 and left Lubbock at about 11.

I had told her I wanted to use our GPS to lead us right to the house.  So, I set it and off we drove to Dickens & right to the door of Geneta's sweet little house!  We were a little later than expected so we take a quick tour of her home and head out to the "cafe" for lunch.  I had a GREAT club sandwich, mother had a BLT and Geneta had a half salad that was big!  If you are going through Dickens, check them out...J & M Caprock Cafe', Bed & Breakfast.  Yum!!!

After lunch we drove back to the house & had prune cake.  It was so very good!  I don't think I have ever had a prune cake...prune face maybe???  Anyway, we visited for a bit and then decided to go to the Dickens' Falls.  Loaded up and drove the 1/2 mile to see some of God's beauty.  You know I love to take pictures and you can look in the left sidebar under Dickens for Mother for a visual of our day!  Here are a few to see what my eye saw that God's eye saw in the creation!!!

Here is my Trinity picture.  3 solid rocks...Father, Son & Holy Spirit!!!  The smaller rock at the top is there to remind me of God's acceptance of us (humans) as sinners and our hope through Jesus Christ. How he holds us up as we walk through each day!

Find of the day are these emotion jars.  I think these would be really fun to sit out and when we show these emotions in our homes we can put a quarter in that particular jar.  Love, Anger, Hate & Joy!  Which jar will get the most of your money??? T_17412  Adlerpots

One time...

One time I got in trouble with the police.  It was when I was very young.  I was at my grandparents over on Nassau and my cousin & I wanted to go to the store and buy something.  Dilemma, my mom left her purse at the house over on Irene Street.  Not a problem...we two girls just slip away and walk to the house.  It is getting dark.  By the time we reach the house it is dark.  We go in the house (did not need a key because back then we did not HAVE to lock the door).  Just about the time we got there a car pulls in the drive.  We see the lights travel up and back down the wall.  We were scared.  It turns out it was the police.  They politely took us back to our grandparents house.  I remember getting a spanking from the officers.  Surely not!  Anyway, I know we got reprimanded pretty well.  Never did that again!!!

Janis and I were talking about this at Christmas.  Of course...she blames me for all of our "bad" behavior.  She was older so...I'm thinking it was her leading me astray!  Ha-ha!!!

Find of the day are these "press and fold" shoes.  Chaussonspod They have a bird house and a purse, too!  Check this out over in the right sidebar!

Sound of Music???

My friend Coralyn shot this over to me…funny!!!

.

Sing this to the tune of “A Few of My Favorite Things”

from the Sound of Music

.

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts ,and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things .

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favorite things ,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things .

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

and she sent this great site that I have seen before, but I will share it with you as HER find of the day!  It is way creative!!! http://producten.hema.nl/

EIC

The Plainview EIC, Education Improvement Council, met today.  This is a great group of educators, parents and community representatives that put their heads together for what is best for our students.  So many people think that just a few run the school district, but having served on the board and in various other education related positions...those who serve know that this is not true.  Anyway, today we worked on revising a policy.  It was a hoot...all these ideas flying around.  It is so cool to see development of policy come together.  Way fun group!
