W. Stewart???

001 My friend, Fusun, calls me W. Stewart.  Missy, a co-worker from years ago, and I teased each other with the name Missy Martha!  I guess you might say that I'm pretty crafty.  I made this sweatshirt by piecing two together.  I wore it today and I love that it isn't the same-o sweatshirt.  It has bell sleeves and I like the look of them.  Anyway...another of my fun creations!

uTube vs GodTube

We all enjoy on line videos...if we are even a little bit computer literate!  I don't search out videos on uTube or GodTube, but often I am forwarded something from them.  More from uTube than GodTube which is sad in itself.  Both have some great work on them.  I tend to enjoy the funnies on uTube and the theme of GodTube.  Both have powerless videos on them so...beware.  This afternoon I visited www.GodTube.com  and came across two of the most awesome videos.  Well, I saw many awesome videos, but these two really spoke to me today so, I thought I would share them with you.  It is cold here in Plainview, Texas, but these videos will stir you up and warm your heart by the power of God.  Let me know what you think...

Summer, where art though?

It is so cold here that the pansies are turning blue!  Ha-ha!!!

We went to the Queens game today at the Hutch.  They lost.  Boo-hoo!  They played really well at times!  I think they will get there under Tory's leadership.

Tonight we went to see our church, First Baptist, Plainview's Christmas presentation.  They performed "Imagine" and did a fabulous job.  I have added a new photo album in the left sidebar.  Here is one of the pictures...040check them out & try to go Sunday night at 7:00...you will be blessed!!!

On the twelfth day...

Here are a few fun Christmas facts...12 to be exact!

1. Santa has 31 hours to deliver gifts, 823 homes per second!

2. Household waste increases by 25% during the Holidays...about 4 million tons!

3. USPS delivers 20 billion cards & packages.

4. Rudolph first came into the Christmas season in 1939, when Montgomery Ward gave out 2.4 million copies of the booklet.  The original name of "Rollo" was vetoed and became "Rudolph"

5. The largest Nutcracker collection, 4,334, is in Germany.  Nutcrackers were made to mock authority figures...thus a "a hard nut to crack".

6. Poinsettias are not deadly to humans or animals, but the latex in the stems & leaves can be irritating to some!

7. The first candy cane dates back to 1670...now that is one old candy cane!!!

8. "A Christmas Carol" was written around November of 1843 and was a huge hit selling 6,000 copies by Christmas Day.  Doesn't seem like much in today's market.

9. The largest gingerbread man weighed in at 466 pounds, six ounces.  Like, don't leave off those 6 ounces!!!

10. An average of 5,800 people end up in the ER after suffering injuries from holiday decorating.

11. In 1836 Alabama was the first state in the USA to declare Christmas a legal holiday.

12. Christmas trees have been sold commercially in the United States since about 1850.

Great things...

I think you know that I love to take pictures and see what God's eye shoots through mine.  I took my mom to the doctor the other day in Lubbock and this fountain was there and it was so lovely to watch...Fountain1

(click on the pictures to enlarge them) aren't the colors just beautiful.  The sun was so colorful!!!

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Grinches

Do you know any Grinches?  We have always loved the Grinch around our house.  He had such a good heart in the end.  You know, after he was understood and understood all those weirdos in Whoville!  Since our son was young, we have had the Grinch to sit on his bed.  He is the neatest Grinch, too.  On one side he is THE Grinch and you flip him over and he is the "new" Grinch.002

Isn't he just the cutest thing?  The pillow he leans on my mom made.  It says, "Life is a song so sing along."  Of course, he holds his book of thoughts!  Are your thoughts "Grinchy"?  If so, turn over and let others see the big hearted "Grinch."  Have a great Thursday.

Find of the day is this great new calendar.  I am loving the format on it. 2008 WeekDate, only write it once is the theme they use.  It has all your monthlies on the top third, the weekly calendar in the middle and the weeklies on the bottom third.  Folds up to about a 4" x 8" calendar.  Easy to tuck in your bag.  Just kind of a new twist.   004

Waiting...

Today I went to a specialist in Lubbock.  They ushered me in rather quickly and then...

I waited and...

I waited and...

I waited and...

and...I finally asked how much longer, after an hour of sitting and standing in this small room with a drip, drip, drip in the ceiling.  It was not dripping water or anything you could see, but it sounded like it.  It was about to drive me nutso!  Then about 10 minutes later, the doc came in and there I was standing there, ready to go.  I didn't, but I sure wanted to.  Anyway, just a pet peeve of mine to have an appointment and be made to wait without communication from anyone.  Rudeness at its finest.  It happens all the time at places though...to all of us.  I know that it doesn't have to be that way because I go to a dermatologist for my pre-cancer checks and it is the most efficient office ever.  So refreshing!

Was I tellin' ya the truth???  Yuppers!!!  Too cute!

Why?

Pres2 This was sent to me in an email.  You need to click on it to see it larger.  It is so true...to a point.  When you get to the why...yes, that is true, but Jesus died to forgive us of our sins and provide us with a way to eternal life.  Jesus is NOT a president...he is the Lord.  It breaks my heart that a baby was born and a man died for me.  I am a sinner...but, through him I am redeemed.  What can we do for someone who loves us so much that he provided this relationship to US?  We can share HIM with others in our actions & our words!!!

Meaningful Christmas

Heard this (among other things) little tidbit this A.M. in worship and thought I would share it with ya!

You can have a meaningful Christmas if you will do these three things:

1. Simplify

2. Magnify

3. Glorify

Notre Dame

For a bunch of years, I think nine, we traveled to South Bend, Indiana to the America's Youth on Parade competition held on the Notre Dame campus.  This was our 2 week summer home each year.  Only the elite twirlers and performance groups attended.    Chrissa had the opportunity to attend each year because she always won (brag, brag ;o)  either Regionals (5 states) or Texas state competition.  Twirling taught Chrissa so many things.  If you have never watched a twirler you should.  There are hours upon hours that are given to perfect each "trick".  Then the "tricks" are choreographed into routines, typically an x-strut, which has to do with the beat of the music and the baton not leaving your hands and a solo, which has to do with the baton leaving your hand and rolling over your body in various ways.  I could preach a sermon on the areas that twirling helps students in the learning area, the grooming area, the self-esteem area, the quickness area or the discipline area.  Here are Chrissa's baton's today...
