Here are a few fun Christmas facts...12 to be exact!

1. Santa has 31 hours to deliver gifts, 823 homes per second!

2. Household waste increases by 25% during the Holidays...about 4 million tons!

3. USPS delivers 20 billion cards & packages.

4. Rudolph first came into the Christmas season in 1939, when Montgomery Ward gave out 2.4 million copies of the booklet.  The original name of "Rollo" was vetoed and became "Rudolph"

5. The largest Nutcracker collection, 4,334, is in Germany.  Nutcrackers were made to mock authority figures...thus a "a hard nut to crack".

6. Poinsettias are not deadly to humans or animals, but the latex in the stems & leaves can be irritating to some!

7. The first candy cane dates back to 1670...now that is one old candy cane!!!

8. "A Christmas Carol" was written around November of 1843 and was a huge hit selling 6,000 copies by Christmas Day.  Doesn't seem like much in today's market.

9. The largest gingerbread man weighed in at 466 pounds, six ounces.  Like, don't leave off those 6 ounces!!!

10. An average of 5,800 people end up in the ER after suffering injuries from holiday decorating.

11. In 1836 Alabama was the first state in the USA to declare Christmas a legal holiday.

12. Christmas trees have been sold commercially in the United States since about 1850.
