WOW!!!

Just got in from the WBU-Pioneers and WT-Buff game and it was a GREAT game.  Way to go Pioneers!!!  If you talk to Hope & Carolyn they will tell you that I talked the whole game to Sally.  I had not seen Sally in forever.  We use to giftwrap at Gabriel's and had so much fun.  She is such a sweet, sweet person!  We stood out front and just caught up on so many things.  Danny said that I could talk the brass horns off a goat or something like that!!!  You are so funny DA!!!  Wayland has some really great people working there.  Anyway, I am stoked that the Pioneers beat WT.

Belonging...

Have you ever felt like you don't belong?  You know, when those God places in your life don't "hear" you?  I think that is the most painful thing.

In Mark 6:4-6 Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor."  He could not do any miricles there, except lay hands on a few sick people and heal them.  And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

Often those closest to you close doors and it becomes impossible to serve.  I think that is such a tragedy.  For me it is all about where God places me every day.  If one door closes another will open.  The only thing that matters in life is serving him and giving through him and seeing worthiness in the hearts of those who desire him.

Birthday Celebration

We had a birthday celebration for Chrissa & Brandon today after church at Leal's.  It was a relaxed time of visiting and eating.  Of course, there were cheesecakes; Pumpkin, Creme Brule & Turtle!  They were tasty, too!  Clinton's 2 sister's & their kids were there and his parents.  My mom was there and my brother, his wife and daughter came in to join us, too.

I'm not close to my brother.  No real reason except 7 years and he IS a brother!  A few years ago he had a stroke and that has been really hard on him & his family.  He is doing good, well okay, but cannot work.  I think that would be an extremely difficult adjustment for someone.  He hates to have his picture made.  Today I got a really good one of him though so I'm sharing.  Most people don't know that I even have a brother.  So, today I want to introduce you to my brother, John Hugh.  025

He is named after our father, John and the Hugh name is on both sides of the family.  John is married to Debby and they have Carey, wife & 3 boys, of Lubbock and Chelsie of Springlake.  Here is a picture of our mom with his wife & daughter.032

Me a Blogger???

NOTE: and the winner for the first comment (and only one ;o) is Debby!  She will get a special gift soon!!! Here is what she gets...003

I am a blogger.  Okay, I admit that.  I'm not sure why I am, but I'll share with you why I believe I am.  Sometimes God leads you to do things that you would never, ever do in your life.  This is that time.  I am not a good writer, although I did take journalism under one of my favorite teachers and friend, Millie Bishop.  I am not the best spell checker on my own so...glad to have that built in!  I'm not a woman of eloquent words like my friend Hope.  I lead a really, really boring life (and love it) and should have nothing to say.  So, you take all that and ask, why?  How?  This IS the power of God.  The kind that can take the cripple and make them walk.  The one who takes us on our knees and grows us into worthy servants.  He is the one that allows me this precious opportunity.  So, in honor of this wonderful blessing...the first one that leaves a comment will get a special little gift!  Enjoy your weekend.

(I will then comment back and ask you for an address...so check back to see who won!)

Color

005Today Chrissa & B came in for a visit...actually for the "Big" game Saturday. (Tech & OU) Well, and for Thanksgiving & their birthday celebration!  Their birthdays are the 25th and the 28th of November!  Any-hoo, I picked up these flowers to brighten the kitchen for their visit.  Our kids always add "color" to our lives.  That is one of the blessings of children.  They are like a box of crayons, sometimes they are a color you love, the next moment they are a color you don't really appreciate, then they quickly are that color you never dreamed would turn out to be so beautiful...with each color you realize how truly amazing they are.  So many colors from one box of crayons!

We all need to feel needed

Tonight at church Travis shared some tips from a Lion's Club member from somewhere, not here, and related it to us.  It was basically on getting Lion memberships and for us it was inviting others to church.  Here is a YouTube video I found that is kind of funny, but true (at least parts)!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTyv1RwL3WM  This is more on telling others about Jesus, but isn't that why we invite them to church...to know the Savior?

Several of these "excuses" applied to me.  One reason, not on their 8", is that I really find it difficult to ask adults to attend church is because I teach in the children's area so I cannot be there for them in Sunday School.  I guess I have never really separated Sunday School from church.  I should invite you to worship and meet you there.  But, Sunday School is where you find your support group and friends.  That can come later, I suppose!  I think the most important thing is that you, we, me know that we are needed.

So often, we want to be waited on and expect the church staff to do for us & in their kindness end up doing everything for us and soon...we discover we don't feel needed so we move on to where we feel needed.  We all want to have a connection to God through service.  I mean, if we are Believers, we should.  Some just jump right in and find their place, others need to be asked, some prodded.  It takes all kinds to make "the family" work.  As we were reminded...we are God's children and so we become brothers and sisters according to the Word.  In families, each sibling is unique and individual.  That is just exactly how the family of God is.  Each of us has a talent, many have many talents.  Sometimes God uses my talent and other times he leads me to an area that uses my gift.  We are such unique creations created for service and love...let's share the Good News!

I do want you to know my Savior because of all he has done for me in my life.  He is my constant strength, he loves me unconditionally, it is through him that I am worthy, he answers prayer and much, much more.  No one can ever shake my personal testimony because I have lived it, I live it and will live it for him.  Now, before you think that I am perfect (are you laughing?)  ...I am not.  I sin, what feels like to me, more than most.  I try to not...but I know that Satan really bugs those who are in the Word.  You know though, the wonderful thing is that my sins are forgiven through the blood of Christ.  Wow, that is powerful!!!

And this song comes to mind:

When He saw what had to be done
He sent His one and only son
Our God is and awesome God
He was sent from up above
To tell us of His undying love
Our God is an awesome God
When His blood shed that day
He took and washed our sins away
Our God is and awesome God
Greater is He that is in me
Than he that is in the world

Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above with wisdom
power and love our God is an awesome God!

Find of the day for those of us who like to stay organized...or those who like to write notes and stack stuff...Gp230401_th I think both groups will find this fun!

Do you think he knew?

Okay, the big question in the OJ case is did he know there were guns in the room.  The question should be, why do we care?  He saw 2 people murdered and was set free so this is almost a joke.  Go ahead and let him "walk"  like Michael Jakson did, too.  These cases are so far into a world that my mind can't comprehend that it makes me wonder about the real world.  We have always lived a sheltered life here in Plainview, for the most part.  I think our eyes are really going to be opened in the next few years to what the "real" world has been experiencing...we better get those guys with the guns to scare off the goons!!!
