The "fleet"

Hpc_sky I took a drive out to High Plains Concrete this evening, one of my rare "appearances" out there.  As I was leaving, this beautiful shot just jumped out to me..."The Fleet".  The clouds and sky just made them pop!  There are a few trucks missing, but you get the idea!!!  Look how nice these trucks look.  They all work hard to make the concrete the best it can be for you ;o)  Ask me all about it!  I don't know much, but I DO know the difference between cement & concrete!

My find of the day is this little knife004 (never dulls) from Evalene's Imports right here in Plainview, Texas!!!  I have several of them!!!  They don't have a website so you will just need to visit them.

Goals ...

Goal is defined as the end toward which effort is directed.  I was thinking today on my way back from Lubbock that I have never really had a "goal" like most people.  Why would I be the norm???  I know, you say, what a loser she is!  I guess that would be true.  EVERYONE has "goals".  I have never awakened and thought that I was going to work towards an end.  Now, I have projects that I see to fruition.  I am focused on tasks that last long periods of time.  Never have I "dreamed" of doing anything other than serving others.  I know I'm not the brightest star in the universe and that is good with me because it keeps me closer than ever to my Maker!  God has blessed me with so many opportunities in my 52 years!  I wonder what I will be when I grow up?  Should I set me a big old honkin' "goal"?  I just can't think of anything I want to do that I haven't done.  Now, there are things that I have experienced that I sure want to experience again.  Is that a goal?  I mean, I don't "plan" for them down the road...I just know that I ask God to use me to that end.  There it is!!!  I DO have a "goal"!!!

My find of the day...remember the sock monkeys of your youth?  I never had one, but now we all can wear them!!!  Find the website in the right sidebar...

Who are we, really?

Okay, who are we really?  I mean are we the same beings created by one God?  Are we so different that we can't come together in His name?  I've been thinking about this lately.  We all have our faiths.  I believe my way and you believe your way.  Is that okay?  Is it normal in the universe in which we live?  Do you believe the Bible?  Do you use another form of word to worship?  I believe there is but one God and for me his Word is my guide.  I know for me it works.  In the Bible in John 3:16-17  he tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. I hold strong to this hope of eternal salvation and through this hope I want others to know the peace, joy, love, comfort, worthiness and much, much more I receive from my relationship with the 3 in one; Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

I found this great little recipe for "day old" bananas: cut up ripe bananas, freeze them, and later pop them into a blender or food processor. the result is a quick and easy frozen dessert that is remarkably similar to banana ice cream.

New Fiesta Campesina photo album in the left sidebar from this afternoon!

Old friends

Today we were eating at the Fieldhouse and just as we were leaving Vickie & Vernon Bloodworth walked in.  We had not seen them in about 15 or so years.  I had just talked to her a few weeks back via email so it was nice to see them.  I have to say they looked the same.  We sure had some good times back then.  We talked about our "Puttin on the Hits" party and the "Tacky Turkey" party to name a few.  Those were the days when our Sunday School class just had a ball!!!  They are sweet people!   Then, this afternoon I talked to Fusun.  They are good and things are going well.  Ilhan is feeling good and should be ready for a new heart in a few short weeks!  Saw my sister-in-law and neice today and that is rare!  Chelsie was in the process of a move and we helped them get some things into storage.  Pretty much that was my day.  Well, lots more worked in there, but just stuff!  Now, let's talk about a subject that I just have to discuss...  Why do people wear earphones for their cells in public?  Good grief, GIVE IT UP!!!  You are NOT that important!!!  Now, I do realize there are jobs that might require it at certain times of the day, but even then, rarely!!!  It looks completely silly!  What do you think???

Hi friends & family!

Nicholle here. It's that time of the year again and "Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman" (my show on the brilliant IFC network) is back with a vengance! The new season starts Sunday August 5th at 11:30 pm. I am really excited about this season's shows. My charactor, Tara Wenzel, goes through a lot of life changes and ultimately learns nothing! It's such a fabulous show, if I don't say so myself and I hope that you all have as much fun watching it as I do!Ifc_minoracc_307_bb_2

Also, the DVD of the first season is now available, so if you want, you could add it to your NETFLIX's picks, or grab it up at any Target or Blockbuster ... might be nice to get a little refresher before the new season starts!

Once again THANK YOU all for your support throughout the years, I love you all and truly appriciate it.

So, save the date and set your Tivo Box or DVR and enjoy the show ...

Getting your hands dirty...

Today around noon thirty I went down to the courthouse to see if I could help Eric & Mary Jane and whom ever else might be there by offering some assistance in setting up for the KCBD broadcasts tonight.  Ended up getting my hands very dirty...not mentioning my body!  When I finally got home tonight and looked at my hands...ooo gross!!!  Everything turned out great.  I think it was the best KCBD time I have seen.  Everything went well because many, many folks stepped up and pitched in!!!  There is a new photo album in the sidebar with lots of pictures.  It was fun, fun for our city!!!  I would guess that close to 1,000 came through throughout the evening.  Takes so many to find success in events like this.  I came home for the 10:00 broadcast and it was great!!! 020

But, this is the real "hoot" of the day...we need this cow in our collection!!!Wallpapers_yoga3_1280

Just the two of us...

093This is us in 1975, an engagement picture.  We have now been married 32 years.  We haven't changed much...at least not on the inside!  We are still the same folks we always were.  Just plain old us...and now the "old" becomes literal!  We have lived over half of the Plainview centennial 100 years!  That is huge!!!  Woo-hoo!  Here we are!  Oh, on Last Comic Standing tonight, a comic said this about living in America.  You know why our colors are the red, white & blue?  Red neck, white trash & blue collar!!!  Is that true or what?  Now if you live in a big city you might turn up your nose, but for those of us who live in rural America, this is a hoot!!!

A new photo album is in the left sidebar:  Punt, Pass & Kick...

Find of the day was found right here in downtown Plainview...080 get it at Zaphryn's 081 082_2

These are a sampling of the post cards that belonged to our grandparents, really our grandfather, Bo.  Many are from his brother, Bertram.  There is one from the Ellisons.  I love the Valentine to my grandmother, Cranny.  The most wonderful thing about having this collection is that they are under the glass tray top of the coffee table that belonged to our grandparents.  It is small and delicate wood with lots of detail.  A lovely table.  These are the memories I carry in my heart.

Final Thoughts...

Tonight we shared our final thoughts with our friends Fusun & Ilhan Yildiz.  Fusun has been here the last couple days packing up their belongings.  The movers came today and everything was loaded into the truck.  As I drove up after lunch the truck was there.  Fusun had wanted me to take a picture of her plantings along her drive.  I stopped & did that as Gaye was leaving.  Remember, all Fusun's good friends bring her food!  So, you know where that places me. ;o)  We visited between the movers asking her things.  I could just visit with her for hours.  I think that is the one thing I will miss the most...our one on one talks...but we WILL have email!!!  This evening the Sistas gathered for a final night of laughter.  We did visit with Ilhan by phone.  He was bored so I do hope our saying hello cheered him up.  I have posted our pictures from tonight in the photo album, Fusun's Ststa Act in the left sidebar.  Crazy women!  You will see why I don't have my picture made...especially not laughing or crying...that is SCARY!!!  It doesn't matter though because we were enjoying our wonderful friendships!!!  Houston, say hello to our friend, Fusun.  Be kind to her and her family!  Here are the "Amen" Sistas!!!  We finally figured out how to use the timed photo and I kind of fell into the picture!!!

A New Day...

Today we spent the day with Fusun.  She had worship with us and then Debby fixed us a lovely brunch following the service.  Following brunch, Hope & I took control of finishing the packing of Fusun's house.  She had done the most of it and we just did all those last minute things that need to be done.  Debby and Corky stopped in and worked on getting it finished, too.  This evening, we had our last sista's gathering in " The House That Fusun Built". Like the book, The House That Jack Built.  Oh, I forget, no English literature, we don't care, right Fusun? Anyway...we had a great time.  We made a new friend.  Her name is Patricia Otieno.  Her husband is a heart doctor here.  She was such fun!  I would tell you more, but her book will be out in January 08, look for it!  Ha-ha!  Just teasing!  That's our new response for those silly questions people ask when they shouldn't!!!  You know???  Well, tomorrow is a new day.  Fusun will be carried away by the Mayflower.  I wonder if she will see Columbus?  Not literally carried away...just their things.  She will leave out Tuesday with pets in tow...  We are excited for the days ahead for Ilhan.  He will have days of recovery to face and healing.  Pray for strength for them both and the peace that passeth all understanding for them.  We can't wait to visit their new home and see our friends find huge success.  Wherever God leads them a piece of our hearts will always be there for them...to remember; to feel loved, to expect hope, to know they made a difference!!!
