China Draggin'

Today I had lunch with my friend Fusun.  She is from Turkey originally but now she is from Texas.  Yes, she has a TexTurk accent!!!  I tease her sometimes on how she pronounces certain words...like hill-ar-ious.  You know we say ha-lar-ious..like we might be a redneck.  Actually, she talks better than we do!!!  She was craving Chinese food and we decided to meet.  I have not felt well at all the past few days and today was the worst.  I was really draggin' but I had so much to get done that I could not slow down!  So, I went to China draggin'!  Well, we went to the China Dragon and the food was good.  We had the nicest visit.  I learned so much about her.  Of course, she already knows I'm crazy so anything she might have learned about me was just icing on the already lopsided cake!  At least lopsided cakes are all the rage these days...makes me popular in some strange way!!!  My friend Fusun is moving to Louisiana to live on the bajou and catch alligators off her porch.  Growing up on the Mediterranean she and her doctor husband, Ilhan, feel the need to "retire" on the water.  Of course he is not retiring but opening his practice there.  They are getting a boat and I think they should name it Sistas Load? or maybe, Red-Med??? Anyway, she will be grabbing gators and drinking Dr. Pepper wine from the deck of their yacht!  Her "sistas" will feel the need to go visit her from time to time to get our "Turkish" fixins'!  She sings...I'm leavin on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again...oh sistas, I hate to go.

Remember our Diva Party for our graduate is tomorrow.  I'll be gettin' back to you on the fun, fun, fun time we have at this event!!!

It's over, the in between and it's only just begun!

Today was our last session for Precept till next year!  The Revelation study has been awesome!  I will be reserving my Tuesday mornings next year to finish the 2 year study!!!

What about this rain...do we need so much?  Are we in the marsh pit? You know, like when you step on the grass and it goes marsh, marsh under your feet! ;o)  Anyway, I'm tired of it but thankful for it.

+

When will the State do SOMETHING about the intersections on I-27 and these access roads.  I have nearly been run over several times lately!!!  I see close calls EVERY day.  People run these lights, too.  I think I'll just park and watch to see how many run the light in an hour's time.  How many do you think?  Have you?  I'm sure I have a few times.  After Virginia was killed there not long ago I have really been much more aware.  I wish they would at least put turning lane protection arrows and mark the roads for turning and straight ahead traffic lanes.  Dream on!!!

+

Did you know that the gutter is falling off the back of the building that houses Hastings.  Someone needs to fix this AND clean off the cobwebs up above and in the windows in that shopping center.  When we have local owners of businesses this is less likely to happen because they are here and see these things...or don't because they take care of their place day in and day out!

+

Is your alley clean?

+

What happens if you go into a store and there is no one there to speak to you in your National language?

+

Why do women have to wear make-up?  Is there a law?  A rule?  I think we should go on strike.  Anyone want to join me???

+

Did I tell you I was standing on my office chair and it rolled out from under me and I was hanging on the door to the cabinet but, I didn't want to pull the door off so I let go and now my arm sockets feel like the rubber band is all stretched out and the arms won't fit on right???  Well, now you know how stupid I am.  Why would anyone my age, or any age for that matter, stand on an office chair, with casters on tile floor, to reach something???  Go figure.  Bright is not my middle name sometimes!!!

+

The ethanol plant will really be a real boost to our economy that is good for the environment...I'm not sure having liquor stores is good for the environment...throw-up can't be good for anyone except maybe Jim Carey feeding little birds in his next movie???

+

Oh, I have some really good news for you.  Susan Browning is singing Sunday in the First Baptist Church's worship service.  Get ready to be blessed for sure!  I l-o-v-e to hear her sing.  Woo-hoo!!!

+

Well, another day has come & gone and life is great!!!  God is good and we are a blessed people.

Help...

Does anyone remember the name of the hobby store that use to be on like Oakland and 7th or 8th?  I have asked all that I know that might know and they can't remember.  I remember walking there from my Cranny & Bo's house to buy things to keep us busy.  Paint by number kits were an often purchase.  I remember Janis & I sitting in the old black trailer that sat behind the house painting the horses or landscapes for hours.  I bet Debby painted with me, too.  There is not much that we did not do together!!!  Any of you old Plainview people remember anything about this store???  Speaking of paint by number, you can still buy these today.  Let's have a paint by number party & then auction them off for charity!  You think anyone would buy them?  On the "painting" note...I have a new piece of "redhead" art.  I just love her.  Here she is...Dscn1297_edited1 now the reason I love her...  She has a black eye and an eye with a key hole which for me shows good & evil. Satan is obvious like a black eye and that is what people focus on, the bad in the lives of others.  The key hole reminds me that if we will just take the time to enter into the lives that God places in our paths...we might meet someone with endless possibilities!!!  Do you have someone's key???

Meet With Me

I'm here to meet with you
come and meet with me
I'm here to find you
reveal yourself to me

As I wait, you make me strong
As I long, draw me to your arms
As I stand and sing your praise
You come, you come and you fill this place
Won't you come, Won't you come and fill this place

I'm here to meet with you
Come and meet with me
I'm here to find you,
reveal yourself to me

As I wait, you make me strong
As I long, draw me to your arms
As I stand and sing your praise
You come, you come and you fill this place
Won't you come, Won't you come and fill this place

I'm here to meet with you
Come and meet with me

We sang this song to day in worship and I really like the words so, I thought I would share it with you!!!  I hope you enjoyed the warm sun today...

Sistas Diva Party

Well, it is this week.  The "Sistas" are having a Diva party for THE Diva!!!  I'll tell you more about it when we get done.  It's kind of a "big" thing!!!  Part of it is secret and someone might (I doubt it) lurk on this blog and find out!  So, my lips are zipped.  I will say that my back is outa wack because of the "secret".  I'm too old to bend over for long periods of time!!!  :o)  It WILL be a fun time.  Look out Lubbock...here we come with a PHS graduating senior in tow!!!

Notable sayings about the Bible

Somewhere I ended up with the book Bible Handbook by Henry H. Halley. It is a 1955 Bible commentary. It has some great things in it. As I read through and came upon these quotes I was reminded of how important God's Word has been through the ages. It saddens me that ours may be the time in history that the people turn their backs to its Message!!! Pray for our Nation.

+

Abraham Lincoln: "I believe the Bible is the best gift that God has ever given to man. All the good from the Saviour of the world is communicated to us through this book."

+

George Washington: "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

+

Daniel Webster: "If there's anything in my thoughts or style to commend, the credit is due to my parents for instilling in me an early love of the scriptures. If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity." + U. S. Grant: "The Bible is our sheet-anchor of our liberties."

+

Andrew Jackson: That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests." + Robert E. Lee: "In all my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength."

+

Charles Dickens: "The New Testement is the very best book that ever was or ever will be known in the world."

+

and, I love this by...

+

Henry Van Dyke: "Born in the East and clothed in Oriental form and imagery, the Bible walks the ways of all the world with familiar feet, and enters land after land to find its own everywhere. It has learned to speak in hundreds of languages to the heart of man. It comes into the palace to tell the monarch that he is a servant of the Most High, and into the cottage to assure the peasant that he is a son of God. Children listen to its stories with wonder and delight, and wise men ponder them as parables of life. The wicked and the proud tremble at its warnings, but to the wounded and penitent it has a mother's voice. It has woven itself into our dearest dreams; so that love, friendship, sympathy, devotion, memory, hope, put on the beautiful garments of its treasured speech. No man is poor or desolate who has the treasure for his own. When the landscape darkens, and the trembling pilgrim comes to the Valley named of the Shadow, he is not afraid to enter; he takes the rod and staff of Scripture in his hand; he says to friend and comrade, Goodbye; we shall meet again, and confronted by that support, he goes toward the lonely pass as one who walks thru darkness into light.

+

and the Treasure is Jesus Christ, the Light of the World!!!

A friend sent this story today & I really liked it so, I thought I would share it with you.  I also added a new photo album called Night Lights in Plain View!!!  Check it out.080

Two  Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with  two horses in it.  From a distance, each horse  looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by,  you will notice something quite amazing....Looking into the eyes of one  horse will disclose that he is blind.  His owner has chosen not to  have him put down, but has made a good home for him.  This alone is amazing.  If you stand nearby and  listen, you will hear the sound of a bell.  Looking around for  the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse  in the field.  Attached to the horse's  halter is a small bell.  It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.  As you stand and watch these two friends,  you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the  blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and  then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will  not be led astray.  When the horse with the bell  returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops  occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't  too far behind to hear the bell.  Like  the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just  because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.  He  watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when  we are in need.  Sometimes  we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of  those who God places in our lives.  Other  times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their  way....

+

Good  friends are like that... you may not always see them, but you know they
are always there.

+

Please  listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.
And  remember... be kinder than  necessary-everyone you meet is fighting some kind of  battle.

Sort of...

Well, my stationery software does not like Vista and it is creating some great distress for me.  The wind blew today, huh?  Blowing wind just exhausts me!  The study on Revelation today was awesome, as always.  Theta was a good meeting with some cool ideas (you can check that out on the myplainview.com blog).  The senior "fun-lovin'" dance group will now meet at St. Alice Catholic Church and they are pumped about that.  Cindy is super nice and they are ready to get over there.  This is an answer to a prayer for this group.  They have NEEDED a good place where they are WANTED!!! Watched American Idol tonight and I'm just not that into it.  They are singing songs that don't grab my attention!  I'm not sure why I have TV???  I do catch the news, do you?  Well, he told us so!  Larry B. IS the father.  I just want this little girl to have a normal life...out of the spot light!!!  So, not much more to say today.  Here is a parting shot...Scan0003my dad!!!  Being funny!!!
