Dongjin Semichem Co., Ltd, Samsung C&T America, Inc., and Martin Resource Management have joined to form DSM Semichem LLC (DSM). Mycon, in conjunction with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Marubeni Plant Contractor, Inc., is constructing the plant in Plainview, Texas.

Wayland offers our community many things. Its very presence in our community is foundational to the legacy of early pioneers who had a heart for all to have the opportunity for a quality education with Christian values.

She has stood strong through the tests of time and I trust that God will bless her until He comes again.

With this said, there are a few things that Wayland offers our community outside of the classroom. Of course, Wayland offers an exceptional athletic program with many opportunities to be entertained and to get involved with these students through support and encouragement.

Then, there is the newly branded Wayland Bookstore. There is the bookstore where students & staff can purchase their educational items and where we all can get our Wayland gear...GO WBU!

And now, there is the West Texas Gifts & More shopping experience. From greeting cards to bridal gifts, men's and women's gift items, technology, yard items ... and more! Stop in and see the changes!!!

 

 

Finally, I want to share that Wayland offers our community a wonderful dining experience. The hours of operation are shown in this photo. I always hear that we need a salad bar—WBU provides this and more!!!

Plainview's Rebel Cheer & Dance celebrated their first cheerleader to sign with a university this evening. Chasidy Pineda, daughter of Amber and Christopher Pineda of Hale Center, signed tonight at the Rebel Cheer & Dance gym with her commitment to TNU, Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Chasidy has six siblings and attends school in Olton, Texas. She is coached by Regenia Boedeker and Ismail Nunez of Rebel Cheer & Dance, Plainview, Texas.

I did not know until recently that the Plainview Lions Club hosted The Plainview Horse Show in partnership with Jackson Stables in the 1940s. How fun to look through a couple of programs and learn about what once was!

Both programs have Etter Electric Commercial Frigidaire ads in them. This was my grandfather's business. I learned, too, that he was located at 209 West 7th, which would have been caddy-corner from the firehouse. This was a new address to me. I knew he was on Broadway, behind the city auditorium, and finally at their home, where he built a shop.

 

Broadband Project

 

The Plainview Broadband Project, facilitated by the City of Plainview Economic Development Department, had its initial meeting Tuesday at City Hall. EDC Executive Director Kristi Aday welcomed the group and introduced Kelly Davila with SPAG, South Plains Association of Governments, who led the time of discussion and direction with key regional leaders.
