Hale County Courthouse

Skating

 

Who remembers skating at the Plainview Roller Rink on north Ash street growing up? I skated a lot there. Sometimes my mother and I would jitterbug on the center section. It is still open after all of these years. I love that! I came across this sticker and ticket for the Plainview vintage collection...

Playground

 

The old Thunderbird rubble and the remaining play structure located at the North Elementary/Stoneham Park area.

 

 

Ballparks

 

The City of Plainview parks department continues its work on the ballparks on west 4th Street.

 

 

Collegiate Campus

 

Highland Elementary is now the PISD/PHS/Collegiate High School. She is still a beautiful example of early architecture.

 

 

Fire Station

 

The new Fire Station is looking great and getting close to completion.

 

 

 

Downtown

 

The "old" City hall is the "new" police headquarters. It is nearing completion.

 

 

This is a classic brick art wall in downtown Plainview.

 

The last windows are installed in the 1912 building in the 6oo block of Broadway.

 

The City of Plainview Planning and Zoning Board discusses important decisions for the City. So many steps to making decisions. I love that more and more community members are involved!!!

 

Veterans & Such

 

Recently a PHS Veteran asked about a Memorial Wall that a teacher at Plainview High School worked on. I had forgotten, actually, I did not know much about it so... I stopped by PHS this morning to view what has been accomplished.

I wish my photos were better. The glare from the lights was hard to work with using my mobile device, but I think you can tell the work that has gone into this project honoring those PHS graduates that have served our Nation.

 

 

This Veterans Wall is in the north hall. I'm sorry you can't read the names. I'm just showing that it is still flying!

 

Someone mentioned that all of the trophies of the past are gone, but there are still many display cases full of trophies, honors, and memories! I snapped just a few!
