Auto Convention

 

A nice postcard of an Auto Convention in Downtown Plainview. Pictured is the second courthouse, built in 1889 and used until 1911.

 

 

 

Shop Local

 

One of my favorite Plainview murals is located on the east side of the Culligan Ultrapure building on West 70.

 

 

New Signage

 

We have new signage going up for Papa Johns. Let's decide now that we will support our local restaurants, old and new! Dine local!!!

 

 

Icicles

 

The wonderful thing that happens when we have moisture, sun, and cold temps is icicles. They are beautiful.

 

 

Aunt Dot

 

We have started going through the Hale County Historical Society (later Commission) scrapbooks to document a data timeline. The first scrapbook is from 1971-1972. The story below is about Mrs. J. O. Oswald, her life's service, and her recent death. The story reveals an appreciation for her volunteer service. What a legacy she provided for our county; a real pioneer, "Aunt Dot."

It is fun to see snowmen in Downtown Plainview!

 

 

West 6th Street

 

A photo that shows a vintage west 6th Street. Ruel Nash Chevrolet, the Montgomery Ward building, and the Hotel Ware. You can see the Hilton Hotel entrance and the parking meters. Someone remind us of what was in the building west of Montgomery Ward.

A Beautiful Skatepark Plainview Day

 

The weather was perfect for a day at the Skatepark Plainview; from Lubbock, Plainview, and surrounding communities. All ages were out enjoying the City of Plainview skatepark!!!
