Have you heard of #Giving Tuesday but are not sure what it is?
So, what is #GivingTuesday?
Launched by 92nd Street Y in 2012 as a charitable answer to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday retail shopping days, #GivingTuesday is a worldwide movement to encourage giving and celebrate generosity. Harnessing the collective power of charities, businesses, and individuals, the goal of this initiative is to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in giving all year round - especially during the holidays.
The Plainview Area Endowment may be another entity you have heard of but wondered what it does locally.
The Plainview Area Endowment serves Plainview and the surrounding area by supporting projects that address community needs. It is the largest member of the Community Foundation of West Texas‘s family of affiliates.
For you, it’s a way to lend a hand that’s always ready to help.
For Plainview and the surrounding area, it ensures that help is here when it’s needed – now and for generations to come.
When life’s been good to you, it’s good to reinvest.
For most of us, that means contributing to local charitable causes periodically. But those who are especially grateful – or those to whom life has been especially generous sometimes want to do more. That’s where the Plainview Area Endowment comes in.
There are many reasons to give through the Plainview Area Endowment:
- We are a LOCAL ORGANIZATION with deep roots in the community.
- We have BROAD EXPERTISE regarding community issues and needs.
- We provide highly PERSONALIZED SERVICE, tailored to each individual’s charitable and financial interests.
- We build ENDOWMENT FUNDS that benefit this community forever and help create personal legacies.
- We offer DIVERSE FUND TYPES, which help people invest in the causes they care about most.
- We accept a wide VARIETY OF ASSETS, and can facilitate even the most complex forms of giving.
- We partner with PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS to create highly effective approaches to charitable giving.
- We offer MAXIMUM TAX ADVANTAGE under state and federal law.
- We MULTIPLY THE IMPACT of gift dollars by pooling them with other gifts and grants.
- We are COMMUNITY LEADERS – bringing together resources and ideas for the good of Plainview and the surrounding area.
SO, every year the Plainview Area Endowment partners with the #givingtuesday initiative to educate and allow the community to give back by giving in accordance with our thankfulness.
This year #givingtuesday is December 3rd. The Plainview Area Endowment will be at Amigos and United from 3-7 PM to answer questions and accept our gifts.
From November 1 through December 3rd, we will be offered the opportunity to give at register check out. We want you to understand, or have an idea of where your gift goes, here is a listing of some of the recipients.
