As downtown building/business owners, you are especially important to our community — the "heart" of Plainview. From the epicenter, we have grown into the city we see today. It is not easy opening doors to a new business in today's market, and opening in a downtown historic district has its own set of challenges, i.e. old buildings.
The City of Plainview, Main Street, and the voice of the building/business owners, the Plainview Downtown Association, are consistently striving to revitalize, enhance, recruit and assist building/business owners through grant opportunities like the Main Street grant and the TIRZ grant to partner with the building/business owner in the refurbishing of a building's facade and other property improvements. Marketing, community partnerships along with the 2nd Saturday event, offer increased traffic for the entire district.
Here, Melinda Brown, City of Plainview Special Projects and Main Street/CVB Director shares with the Plainview Downtown Association members the Updated Historic Standards for the Downtown District at Quarterly Coffee @ the Broadway Brew.
Things are exciting and moving forward throughout our community, and things are bright.
One of the buildings shown below will house an attorney and is nearing completion, and the one on the right, Lone Star Dance Academy, is open for business! There are several new pop-ups, and we look forward to more.
Taken an early evening, on a Monday, these buildings may appear to be unoccupied, but they are occupied, and we are all having a great time working together!!! We choose progress.
