When was the last time you attended a Plainview City Council meeting? You know what they say, right? We can't complain if we aren't involved! Most complaints I hear are from those who don't know what is going on. This is a great way to understand what your city is doing wherever you live. In Plainview, there is a work session prior that you may attend, as well. Of course, these are official meetings, and there is a proper protocol to speak at them.
Tonight's meeting had the Purple Heart City Proclamation presented by Mayor Dunlap.
Steve Oien, Commander Chapter 0900, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Lazaro O. Camarillo, III, Chief if Staff-South Military Order of the Purple Heart presented a proclamation to the City of Plainview recognizing it as a Purple Heart City.
Plainview had two residents who were Purple Heart recipients—Robert Owen, who passed away last year and Jose Casares.
Several Veterans attended to hear the proclamation read.
The next item was the Proclamation to celebrate the 2019 National Preservation Month.
Then the city council went into their business meeting and heard from several city employees in regards to improvements, updates, and partnerships.

City Manager, Jeff Snyder shared information on the partnership between the City and the YMCA in regards to this summer's programming as the aquatics center is under construction.
The actual city council meetings are typically not longer than an hour or so because of the work session. We should attend! The agenda is always online. If we can't attend, we can watch it live on TV. No excuses, right?
