It's really happening, folks! The Hilton is getting her facelift. They are unloading her from the years & years of destruction, debris, and death.
This sub-contracted crew is doing a great job. PLEASE, avoid driving down in front of the Hilton. Park on a side street to watch or take an alternate route to your destination!!! They appreciate it!
It is fireworks time again!
This fireworks stand has a ministry behind their selling. You can even give above your purchase price if you feel led! Located on the I27 access road, west side, just south of SW 3rd Street, you will be blessed! Ask them their mission!
Be safe with your fireworks. Remember, they are not legal in the city limits of Plainview so find those city limit signs and go beyond there to light them. It is always good to have the landowner's permission.
Prepare your pets a sound buffering area, too. Most are very fearful of the popping.
Watch the young ones closely, so they don't get burned.

It's coming! The Red White and Moo parade (10 AM) and MILK FEST (10:30 AM until 12:30 PM) put on by our area's dairy industry. Tuesday, July 3, 2017, be in downtown Plainview and at the Hale County Courthouse for everything fun!

There are school principals through time that have an impact on a student's life. For me, there are two who impacted my life in great ways.
First was my College Hill principal, Michael Chumrey.
Mr. Chumrey loved kids. Knowing now that I am wired with Aspergers, it becomes even more evident to me his love for me as a student. He was an encourager.
The other principal that I hold dear was Lamont Veatch.

He ran a tight ship while at Plainview High School. He did not tolerate disrespect or one who was not willing to learn. His core love was his students and them finding success. I believe that it was because of his leadership that I found my way through Plainview High School. I (I should say, we) pulled a few pranks, nothing serious, and he taught us through them. There was no need for any type of punishment other than his sharing better decision-making skills. He was like a father that I disappointed and because I knew respect, I learned. Mr. Veatch always had a smile that came from his heart. This is how I remember him. Good times at PHS for someone who did not understand how to fit in.

The ladies are on their way to Plainview. You can watch their progress here. Or, come out to the airport and bring a chair. Parking is the grassy area just north of the airport. Some will fly in on Wednesday, with most on Thursday and there may even be one or two on Friday! Fun days!
