In the fifties, there were Ponies in Plainview. You might have read about them in the newspaper in years past. Here is one story of mention by Doug McDonough. Frosty
Here is a 1953 stat sheet.
A 1954 stat sheet.
And, a 1956 stat sheet.
Here are two collectibles of Ponies player, Donald Stokes.
And just an added Plainview tidbit that includes the Ponies here is this more recent find. The Radiant Lilly

I don't typically openly thank one group or another on this blog. With that said, I'm going to break my pattern and say how fortunate Plainview is to have Tim Crosswhite and Ricky Summers on board, with their eagerness, to help assure that the City of Plainview parks is maintained and improved with innovative and fun playthings.
The Parks Advisory Board met this evening at the Broadway Park Shelter House and approved more exciting things for the community.
Tomorrow is the deadline to apply to serve on a City of Plainview committee. This said, you can go anytime and fill out the form for a committee, and as there are openings, the council will look through the applications.
On to another thought. If you, your family, friends, a business or organization wants to honor or memorialize someone...your parks are a great starting place! There are many options.
As I left our meeting, I wanted to share another new sun shelter that our parks crew is constructing. This one is in Broadway Park.
The parks crew will begin the process of a tree replacement plan of planting new trees as trees die out. They will plant from a variety of color leaved species.
They have added the sand volleyball pits at Regional Park, added play structures at Utica and Givens Parks, and several new play components throughout the park system. They stay very busy. Thank you to the parks crew, too. They do more than parks. They fill the shoes of many positions!

We have two more days to volunteer to play a key role in the future of Plainview, its vision, and progression.
Here is a Districts Map of the City of Plainview. We still need volunteers, specifically from Districts 3 & 7 to stop by City Hall and sign on as a people of Plainview voice. We have through Friday, January 20th.
And, I thought this chart (found on the City of Plainview's website might be helpful.

Yes, this is about taxes, not Texas. Although, they go hand in hand, the state and selling.
I have wondered for some time if all of the little Facebook pop-up shops are legal when it comes to paying taxes. Believe me; you want to follow the law and not end up in a headline or worse, fines or prison.
The general rule of thumb is that if you made any profit on a sale, then it must be reported as income. Profit is defined as the difference between what you paid to acquire something, any loss in value due to depreciation, and how much you sold it for. Income is taxed. Tangible goods sold are taxable.
Read here for Texas law regarding selling. Selling from a brick & mortar store or selling online are taxable the same.
Selling garage sale items has its limits, as well.
This site gives you the link to register with the state of Texas or any state you might be selling in. Texas Sales Tax Guide.
It's always good to check the depth of an online business. The state is checking, I'm sure!
Shop local includes businesses that have a presence locally, brick and mortar, and are registered as such with the State of Texas. They are typically Chamber of Commerce members and involved deeply in the community.
When we connect with this type of shopping experience, then we create growth and encourage other stores to open in our communities.
SHOP PLAINVIEW!!!

We need to do some spot cleaning. We have enabled others by picking up after them or allowing them to break the laws & codes all over town. We must all speak up. You ask how?
