I always learn the best information from the best sources! Today, we had a Chamber gathering of men and women that I have admired and learned from through the years. It is always such a treasured time for me. I sat with Essie and Sandra (Givens), and they are full, just full of Plainview history and stories. What fun to listen to them share!
I have shared many stories about Plainview Lake. From the pigs used to cement the lake to the passenger's first view of the Athens of the Plains, as Plainview was called.

America, the land where Eagles soar! Eagles like the scouts doing their project to become an Eagle Scout. I was honored to work with Sam Farr through Snack Pak 4 Kids his junior year of high school. He is a senior at Plainview High School. Yay, Sam!
Today, Sam brought volunteers together to complete his Eagle Scout project. His project was building picnic tables for his church. The crowd of about twenty was diverse. There was a medical joint rep, an ortho doctor, an x-ray technician, kids, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, Scout leaders, and friends. All busy with Sam's plan.
This is why we should be thankful, the FREEDOM, to love, share, and give. Have a great Saturday friends!
Long, long ago when our numbers were 1000 or 1001, there was the Herald Publishing company. This old matchbook cover lets us remember. There was Oswald's, Professional and then Inkwell. Throughout these times there has been Eaton-Craig Stationery & Office Supplies.

Yes! This sign is finally down, and the debris carried off. Now, a tall pole ready for something Plainview, how I wish! At least the area is cleaned up!

Let's talk about bars. Not the kind of bars where people partake, but bars representing volunteer service. What we use to know as the Pink Ladies, now the Covenant Health System Auxiliary, volunteers and provides many extras for our local hospital. There are men and women of all adult ages who serve us in this way. As they serve, they get a recognition bar for each year served.
Sammie Roberts is going on seventeen years of volunteering at our local hospital. I think this is very impressive. Thank you to all who serve here!
Our parks department is at it again; trying something new and different. Something to create a better parks system. Keep your eyes open. You never know what they will do next!!!
One of the great joys of living in a rural community is that there are days and times that you really can play a pick-up game of football in the street! I love to come upon groups like this. Outside on a beautiful day enjoying outdoor fun and making memories with family and friends!
