The Unger Memorial Library in Plainview has a page on their website where most of the PHS yearbooks are viewable. They do take some time to load, but if you are needing some nostalgic Plainview, check them out: Plainview High School yearbooks.

Don't you just hate it when we have traffic? Lunch time on 5th Street is bad, especially when you get a slow goer driving in the left-hand lane, right? School times are bad for traffic, too. Parents rushing their kids to school at breakneck speed in the mornings and then kids trying to get home or to their rides in the afternoons.
We really can't complain. Twice a day there might be a few more cars with us at a stop light or driving down the road, but most of the time it is smooth sailing. Be sure and watch for kids crossing, getting out of or in cars, running in excitement. It is such a sweet picture. Kids getting out of school for the day.

This remodel is not what I wanted for this corner. I wanted a welcome to the Running Water Draw Regional Park sign and landscaping. I don't always get my way. This corner has been an eyesore for several years. There is beauty there now. I hope the renters use the driveway and take care of it. Thank you to James Odom for creating a better entry to our park.
Across the way, looking north.
Looking southeast over the Draw.
Bright sunset beginning to reflect.
Another look across towards northwest Plainview.
Lots of beauty in Plainview!

Every second just became history. Time is ticking.
If you have ever thought that you might be interested in Hale County history (which is connected to state and national history) then you should attend the Hale County Historical Commission meetings. The next meeting is Tuesday, October 25th, at the Museum of the Llano Estacado on the Wayland campus. The program this meeting is "Your Cemetery or My Graveyard" presented by Linda Milner and Renee Williams. Start time is 5 PM. Then join us for a tour of the Jimmy Dean Museum following. If you are interested in attending other meetings, then there is a small yearly membership fee. A wonderful group and awesome programs!!!
Wake up! God's beauty welcomes us!
There are many fun fall activities for kids this week and weekend. Check out Plainview Texas Local Events on Facebook for more info.
It WILL get cold so be sure you bring your underwear in from the line! Say thanks for your blessings!!!
And then, it will be Christmas!

Today, heaven is enjoying a jamboree. Randy Ballinger is the MC, and he has people rolling in laughter with his words and deep radio voice. Lorena Dayton is sitting on the front row, right side, smiling, just waiting for him to introduce the next group. Then her toe-tapping will continue as she nods in approval of her work of putting together just the right show. John Dayton is busy taking tickets, shooting the bull (will this happen in heaven? Shooting the bull? LOL) or sitting by Lorena's side in support. Hugh and Lucy Etter sit a row or so back and they are reminiscing about this song or that knowing that the day is good, thinking about their great days living in Plainview, Texas. Yolanda Rodriguez is praising and playing. Jim Gilbert is waiting to straighten up the area for Ollie Liner. John Hugh is sitting beside Hugh (Bo) watching the show. Peggy Wall is volunteering and being there in support. Ricky Cross is sitting at the drums. The golden drummer boy, setting the beat on the golden street.
The stands are full of those who have found peace in the plaza of the Son of Man. They came together today to welcome Bill Ballinger
Yes, today there is a jamboree. We are coming home; we're coming home.
Here are a few pictures from the Plainview Musical Jamboree held at the Ollie Liner Center in Plainview, Texas between 1989 and 1995.
Randy Ballinger, son of Nan and Bill Ballinger.
These that have been mentioned and so many others of the Plainview Jamboree family are toe-tapping in praise of our mighty God in the heavenly realm. It is well with their soul. God rest it.
