War is a part of who we are as a people. For as long as I have lived, we have lived in conflict. Freedom isn't free. What is the price of freedom?
Many have given the ultimate sacrifice of life for our freedom and some return home never to be the same. We must understand that only lives remembered can be honored.
Veterans just want us to celebrate and honor their contribution to our freedom. They want us to respect the history that they participated in.
Last evening I sat and listened to information on the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Education Center to be located in Amarillo. The presentation was presented by Happy State Bank. They are a financial supporter of the project.

The War Memorial will include a chronological timeline of each conflict, an interactive and hands on war history. It will be the only one of its type in the state of Texas. It will include the war heroes from at least 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.

History is important to keep us from making the same mistakes. These exhibits will be an in-depth and intense history of all of the wars of our Nation.
