The first Hale County Courthouse was constructed in 1888. It was a 20 x 40 wood building. Built west of the current courthouse square, it cost 2,500.00 to build. It was later sold and used as a drugstore.
The second courthouse was built in 1889. Construction came in at about 10,500.00. It was built on the current courthouse square. It was used until 1911.
The current Hale County Courthouse is the third Hale County Courthouse. Construction began in 1909, and its cost was 60,000.00.
