Upholstery is a beautiful art form. It is rare to find a talented tacker. Plainview has been blessed to have had several amazing upholstery shops through the years. When I saw this worn sign today I was reminded of this shop, and then, there was Pete's Upholstery, what sweet memories of days sitting and visiting with him. Now, Ranada & Company does amazing upholstery. Plainview is full of creative people.

You can find it here. Everything interesting we set out to look for can be found in Plainview. We have trendy clothes boutiques, fine restaurants, great grocery stores, appliance dealers, furniture shops, entertainment venues, resale shops, farm stores, great salons, even saloons. We have amazing gift shops and antique shops. The list is endless. Seriously, we have body shops, auto shops, auto parts shops, and this girl found a bit of an automobile, and her new friend, Mr. George, on this amazingly beautiful day in Plainview!

I enjoy the Jeff Foxworthy isms. We find ourselves in many of them. We have even written our own like, "You might be a redneck if you drive to the Allsup's with a live Pheasant stuck in the grill of your pick-up."
Today following worship, a sweet friend walked by our vehicle and placed his chewed gum on our side mirror.
Surprisingly, it did not fall off, even driving 45 mph to see if it would. One of the greatest things about living in Plainview is the people. People are funny here. They are fun, too. They are simply complex. Can you be simply complex? I dunno, but every person is unique and has something to offer us. Today, I got gum!
Now, let's create an ism for this. You might be a redneck if you ...

It is important for us to write. It is good to put on paper our thoughts, the stories, fiction, and non-fiction. I am blessed that I have been able to capture in printed form some very special God-given thoughts, stories and 'eyes to see' pictures.
I know, there are many who do this professionally and make money doing it. I admire this gift. I am not a writer. I am one who wants to share a few things with our grandchildren, though.
You have to start somewhere. I always enjoy writings from others, especially from the young people I know. A classmate of one of our children just published her first story, The Adventures of Rory the Squirrel. Amanda Stockton had a feisty squirrel while in Lawton, Oklahoma, that became her focal character in this children's book. I was honored that she mailed me a signed copy. It is things like this that I cherish. Hearing the excitement in someone's voice or words when they have accomplished a "bucket list" listing.
She wrote the story on Storybird. How can you not love that name?! This site lets us create our stories, OR we can read others creative words. I find this is a great site for emerging readers! Save the link for your kiddos!

I stopped by Wayland Baptist University today to visit the art show by area students. All I can say is, WOW! This is one of, if not the best, student art shows I have seen. What I love about art is the emotion of the artists found in their pieces. Some work it out through thousands of fine tiny lines, and others use bubblegum. It is in the diversity that we find ourselves moved.
Just to give you a visual of the new Jimmy Dean Museum...
While you are at Wayland, visit the bookstore; lovely things there. Also, there is a small book sale at the library. YAY, Wayland!
