Several months back, I decided I would conduct my own water test on three water providers to determine the safety of the water we are provided.
Note: I am not responsible for the water you drink. This was a study I did (and we all should do) for peace of mind.
I bought three separate drinking water test kits. I tested three water sources; our kitchen tap water, a bottled water and the water source at the corner of 5th and Ennis.
The test tested for Bacteria, Lead, Pesticides, Total Nitrate/Nitrate, Nitrate, and pH, LR/hardness and total Chlorine.
Here are the results:
City of Plainview tap water
0 Bacteria
Negative Lead
Negative Pesticides
0-5 Nitrate/Nitrate
0 Nitrate
10 PH
200 LR/hardness (Calcium, Magnesium and other trace minerals)
0 Chlorine
Purchased water 5th & Ennis Streets
0 Bacteria
Negative Lead
Negative Pesticides
0-5 Nitrate/Nitrate
0 Nitrate
7.5 pH
50 LR/hardness (Calcium, Magnesium and other trace minerals)
0 Chlorine
Bottled Water
0 Bacteria
Negative Lead
Negative Pesticides
0 Nitrate/Nitrate
0 Nitrate
6.5 PH
50 LR/hardness (Calcium, Magnesium & other trace minerals)
0 Chlorine
I was thrilled with the results of the drinking water test results. They all three came out smelling like a flower!
The tap water is a little hard, but if you have lived in Plainview long, we know that. It is better to be high than low. I would love it to be in the 100 range but, the hardness is hard to control in municipal water from what I have read.
The pH should be about 6.5 to 8.5 and the ten result for tap water could be the need for a new faucet, or it could be overall tap water, hard to tell, but not dangerous either way.
