WOW!

 

All I can say is WOW! What an amazing day. I want to personally thank Melinda Brown for taking on this event as a city employee and creating a day to remember for our young people!

Today was proof that if we build it they will come. We had the team Powell-Peralta, owned by Stacy Peralta, here from Santa Barbara, California. Their comments were, "A great park, awesome design, good flow."

We had boarders from Amarillo, Lubbock, Levelland and even Colorado (last night) skate the park. Their comments, the best park in the area, I'll be driving here to skate all of the time, awesome and well thought out great design. 

There were young and old, no experience to professional, skateboarders, roller blades, scooters, bicycles, we had it all today.

Our Plainview skateboarders were among the crowd today, but many patiently allowed the visitors to enjoy the park today knowing that they can skate it every day! Each one was so appreciative for our community coming together with such a wonderful place for them to enjoy and for future generations to enjoy, as well.

What an honor it was to travel this journey with so many amazing individuals.

Thank you to Jeff Snyder for his positive and always encouraging words. Here, Mika and Jeff, accept the 'first skate' skateboard for the city (or for their two boys to skate the park with).

 

 

How surprised I was when the skateboarders presented this awesome skateboard sculpture signed by so many of the skateboarders themselves. A big thank you to the Gubser family for putting this gift together, blessed beyond measure!!!

 

 

WOW! Thank you to so many; two city councils, two mayors two city managers, two parks superintendents and the parks advisory committee all who have done their part to make it happen.

I want to give a huge shout out to our parks crew. They have worked tirelessly to get the park ready. Thanks, guys!

McDonald's Restaurant

 

I like McDonald's. I don't care what anyone says about the food, they have some good things. No, it is not garden fresh healthy, but neither is any other fast food location we choose to purchase from. Processed food is just not healthy regardless of where we buy it; from the grocery store to fine dining to Chick-fil-a (oh, we don't have that restaurant, but I like it, too). The deal is, we ALL eat processed foods. What we need to do is consider it a treat, not our staple.

My friends own the McDonald's here in Plainview. I trust that they are serving me the highest quality of what it is that they serve. Never does McDonald's Restaurant advertise that their products are to be the end all of our diets. They serve convenience foods and I believe they do a good job of that!

Do you order sodas? What about diet sodas? That is another blog. LOL 

I just want us to realize that fast food restaurants are not out to hurt anyone. They are super nice business owners delivering a product that the consumer supports. Let's educate the consumer not attack the business owners.

I appreciate those with opinions to change what they find offensive. I like opinion, but attacking is for sure less healthy than my Frappe!

 

 

Everything old is new again. I'm excited to see the finished McDonald's Restaurant in Plainview!

 

It is REALLY here!

 

It is REALLY here! the Plainview Skatepark will officially open on Thursday, July 16, 2015. A project that started in 2009 as a vision of a few skateboarders has culminated into a reality for hundreds of skateboarders and future generations of skateboarders.

This morning, Melinda Brown, Plainview Skatepark Dedication event coordinator, brought Fox 34 News of Lubbock for several live broadcast segments.

On occasion, we will see a stretch limo pull up to Walmart. You might wonder why a stretch limo would be at Walmart. This is why...

 

 

In our little neck of the woods, at Quinceanera time, Walmart is the perfect place to be seen! These kids were having fun. Happy 15!

Plainview has such fun wildlife to enjoy.

 

Garden Sunflower

 

Annual sunflower, aka garden sunflower (Helianthus annuus)

is a very large plant with conspicuous blooms. While

they’re considered to be weeds by most farmers, they are

native wildflowers and important food sources for insect and

wildlife species.
