Contract

And...Hale County Concrete becomes High Plains Concrete in 1969. Clinton came across this draft of the contract his father, TC Wall was involved in that brought TC, Peggy, Bert, Donna, and Kathy to Plainview, Texas.

October 1969...

 

4 men had a vision...

 

There were two locations purchased, one on east 11th Street by the train tracks and one on Trinity Street. What I loved finding while reading is that one of the locations was located on land that was originally owned by Carrie Bonner, my maternal, great-great aunt.

 

 

The sellers...and, George Smith, signed the contract.

 

In the early 70s, TC & Peggy Wall, became the sole owners of High Plains Concrete. They are still involved and the family business continues under the ownership of Clinton Wall and Bert Wall.

 

 

Staked Out

The apartment complex is staked out. I know the big city people might think it odd that the building start of an apartment complex is such an important thing to us here, but it shows growth. Growth is good!

Super Heroes

It is time to form our Relay for Life-Hale County, Relay for Life Teams!!! I'm pretty sure that most all of us have been touched by cancer. This event is to celebrate our survivors, remember those we love and have lost, and to raise money to provide services for our "SUPER HEROES" in Hale County.

Snow

This is a picture of my cousins, Janis Alexander and Billy McCarver, taken in front of 1006 Nassau Street looking towards 11th Street. Our November 2014 snow looks about the same as the February 1956 snow!

Library

Plainview has a most wonderful library. We are fortunate!

Fun With Lights

It was a beautiful, but very cold night last night. I took a little detour downtown on my way to get a donut. Downtown was peaceful and warm with the lighting and the brick street. Fun with lights!

Bare

 

Well, it happened. The season of winter arrived in Plainview. Enjoying all four seasons in their full glory is one of Plainview's many attributes. 

I tell you for certain that we won't be runnin' bare through the bushes in the next little bit! BRRR!

Thank you for your military service, near and far! Even though the Poppy is typically a Memorial Day representation, we had a donation time at our ladies bowling league Monday night.
