Did you know in the early 1900s that Plainview owned a camp site in the Sante Fe National Forest, at the headwaters of the Pecos River and south of the Rocky Mountains? It was located in the Holy Ghost Forest.
It was reported in the Survey of Plainview, by J.A. Glenn,"Some seventy-five families of Plainview took advantage of this camping ground. The secretary of the Board of City Development says it is the plan to spend one thousand dollars on improvement, and it expects more than one hundred Plainview families will camp there next summer."
