Thankful ...

You think Plainview has problems? There are plenty of places that are much worse off than us. I was in an area this weekend that made me really thankful that we live in Plainview, Texas!

Just because other places need their code enforced is not a reason we should let our issues get worse. We need a good clean up of properties across town.

At the same time I want to personally say thank you to all of those who DO take pride in their property(properties). You really DO make a difference for those who live here and visit here!!!

Far & Wide ... ...

I have known Landon Thompson since...well, always. His grandmother worked with my dad at Sears. His mother, Stephanie, & I grew up and graduated from Plainview High School the same year. Landon grew up in Plainview, as well. He is good friends with our daughter & son-in-law. You get the picture... Landon Thompson is a product of Plainview.

Here is a fun write up about him and his partners that comprise the Black and White Years indie art rock band.

Legacy ...

England Wholesale has closed its doors for good. The legacy that this business left us with should be that we must stay focused on what we are doing and do the very best at what it is we do.

Lynn and Melvin (deceased) brought joy into my life. Melvin was a pre-school Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church for many, many years. Back when the pre-school area was where the main offices are now...Melvin was in the first room on the right. When you looked in he most likely had several children standing around him and one on his knee. He always had a smile on his face and with his eyes would be sharing the Truth with the children.

Lynn has always been one of my special wisdom ladies. She is quite but has shared her faith lessons with me over and over through the years. Such a sweet spirited woman.

I am sad that England's has closed but I knew in time it would. They weathered the storms of small business life and came out the winners...at least in my legacy book!
