I was filing a sketch away into a notebook where I often put things I want to keep. Inside was a fabric envelope that sweet friend, Carolyn Andrews had given me years ago. I felt something inside of it and pulled out this note. I had forgotten about the note and its words.
One of my greatest joys was to encourage my mother to design and build her home. My daddy, her husband, died in 1995, her mother, in 1996. She had handled estates and worked throughout and was exhausted. One day we were talking and I asked her what one thing would she do if she could. She said she had always wanted to design and build a new home. I immediately said, Let's do it!
And we did. To see her dream come true brought me more joy than I can honestly hold in my heart still today as I think back on those many months. It was my honor and deepest blessing to stand with her as she did her thing!
We hosted an open house party for her when she was all moved in. Wonderful friends, Mona and Hoppy Toler, helped host the party.
This is all this girl needs to put a smile on her face! Precious gift! Thank you, Mother!
