God speaks and I listen. He uses the Holy Spirit.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. John 16:13-14
On facebook I made this post:
Two things I've learned...
1. Follow the nudging of the Holy Spirit and not people's requests or expectations.
2. In ALL things acknowledge HIM.
.
I had someone ask me if I could share a story; a time when the Holy Spirit spoke to me and I have been thinking and praying.
I want others to know the Holy Spirit speaks to me and guides me. I try to live a simple life for this reason. I work hard to be sensitive to each moment of each day. I must say that I often fail. I often miss or even ignore opportunities to glorify God. This is one of my sins.
Other times though I do listen. Just a little bit ago a name was whispered into my thoughts. Then I was told what I needed to do. I will do what I was asked. During the day, I might see someone and feel led to do a particular thing for them to share the love of Jesus. It can be as simple as that. Or, it can be labor intensive.
He sometimes speaks to me in a dream. I had a dream about taking a position to help a friend with a task. He told me and played it out in my inner most thoughts the instruction not to move forward with this position. When I woke up I knew what I was to do, but I did not listen. I did what he had shown me not to do. It played out exactly like he had shown me down to the last detail. It would have made sense to listen, but I thought it would be okay and it wasn't. Had I only listened. It certainly helped me seek his face with more passion. That is the great thing about serving such a mighty God!
God wants a relationship with us. He wants us to be that close to him. He wants us to ask him to speak to us so that we hear. God speaks!
